Buy, sell and keep for Gameweek 2
The first round of Fantasy Premier League is over so we look to the next and look at which players are a buy, sell and keep for Gameweek 2. Whether that be through injury, team and player form or other factors we advise the potential fate of assets in your teams.
Looking at players who are a buy, sell and keep for Gameweek 2 could be extremely beneficial to FPL managers. Knowing what to do with assets in your team can ultimately bring clarity with transfer use, captaincy and chip strategy.
Buy
- Erling Haaland (£14.5m – Manchester City) – There are still some managers out there who do not own the Norwegian. Haaland is the highest owned player in the game, the focal point to a relentless frontline, the penalty taker and he bagged a brace of goals in Gameweek 1 with less touches of the ball than most on the pitch.
- Bukayo Saka (£8.5m – Arsenal) – Arsenal impressed in Gameweek 1 and one player in particular stole the show with his wonderful strike. The midfielder was fantastic and looked like a constant threat. He also has some great fixtures ahead and takes his sides penalties.
- Pervis Estuinan (£5m – Brighton) – Brighton still have two fantastic fixtures ahead so it is not too late to invest in their dangerous full-back. In Gameweek 1 Estupinan bagged seven points for his assist and bonus even after losing the clean sheet and receiving a yellow card. He also registered six key passes, two big chances created and two shots on target.
- Ben Chilwell (£5.5m – Chelsea) – Chelsea’ full-back may have faced a tough on paper game against Liverpool but he could have picked up a huge points return. He nabbed seven points in Gameweek 1 but he was relentless from an attacking point of view and came close to scoring on several occasions. Chilwell has fantastic fixtures ahead against the likes of West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Luton and Bournemouth.
Sell
- Gabriel (£5m – Arsenal) – The centre-back failed to start in Gameweek 1 against Nottingham Forest. Although he featured towards the latter stages of the game the Arsenal coach described his absence similarly to a tactical change which could be an issue for his long term reliability. He could also soon drop in price so managers may lose value.
- Harry Kane (£12.5m -Bayern) – The former Spurs striker has completed his move to German side Bayern so will no longer feature for the English side.
- Kevin De Bruyne (£10.5m – Manchester City) – After playing just 22 minutes against Burnley in Gameweek 1 the Belgian midfielder picked up and injury with rumours suggesting he could be out for several weeks.
- Kieran Trippier (£6.5m) – Many still own the Newcastle full-back mainly based on his performances last season. However, his side face some of the best attacks in the division in the next several games and at his price-tag it could be time to sell already.
- John Stones (£5.5m – Manchester City) – John Stones became one of the highest owned defenders at the start of the season but his time may be up already. The centre-back failed to start in Gameweek 1 due to an injury and there is no telling he will come back in for the new round.
- Tyrone Mings (£4.5m) – Aston Villa) – It was a tough first day for Villa as they collapsed to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle. In the same game they also lost their most experienced centre-back due to injury. The club have confirmed Mings will be out for some time with a significant knee injury.
Keep
- Mohamed Salah (£12.5m – Liverpool) – Many fantasy managers may be looking at other cheaper options picking up bigger returns in Gameweek 1. However, Salah was convincing against Chelsea, and should have picked up more than the assist he did. The Egyptian has a fantastic game against Bournemouth next so owners should be holding out for now.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8m – Liverpool) – Trent was very disappointing against Chelsea in Gameweek 1 but his game against Bournemouth next up it too hard to ignore. Because of that Trent should also be a hold for now.
- Ollie Watkins (£8m – Aston Villa) – Aston Villa may have have been dismantled in Gameweek 1 but Watkins still looked very positive. The striker managed to create an assist and came close to more but he also has some great fixtures against Everton and Burnley next. It may be tempting to move to another option but holding could be the best decision.
- Reece James (£5.5m – Chelsea) – The Chelsea full-back was substituted off late in his match against Liverpool. But after the game manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed James was just tired. James was hugely convincing in terms of assist potential so holding for the brilliant fixtures ahead could be wise.
- Phil Foden (£7.5m – Manchester City) – The midfielder may have blanked in Gameweek 1 but his minutes could look positive moving forward with the injury to Kevin De Bruyne. After Gameweek 2 he also has some fantastic fixtures.
- Nicolas Jackson (£7m – Chelsea) – Jackson picked up just one point in Gameweek 1 but had plenty of opportunities to score. With brilliant fixtures coming up it could be worth holding onto Jackson before many come in to buy him in Gameweek 3.
