Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 32 Expert Picks and Team Reveal
We look ahead to Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 32. We bring in our regular contributor and Bundesliga Fantasy expert @FPLGunnersaurus. He reveals his team and plans for the new round. He also shares three of the best defenders, midfielders and forwards to buy this week.
Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 32 is here so getting ready for the new round could be crucial. Our top picks and expert team reveal could be hugely significant and massive contributing factors in the decisions we have to make in our own teams this week.
Defenders – Mitchell Weiser (12.6m / 19% TSB / SVW)
I may have recommended Weiser last matchday but do you know who did not take his own advice? Me! I then missed out on a 20pts haul that 17% of overall managers pulled in. Weiser registered an assist and a clean sheet in a surprising 3-0 away win over Augsburg and that attacking return is exactly why he was a good option.
Bremen host Gladbach on MD32 and given the xGA of the two sides I am not forecasting a clean sheet for either side. That said there should be plenty of opportunity for Weiser to add to his three goals and club leading seven assists. I will not repeat the same mistake twice so Weiser is my first transfer in this matchday.
Robin Gosens (12.3m / 2% TSB / FCU)
Gosens has been good to me. I have owned him only three times this season and on those matchdays he raked in 24pts, 19pts and 16pts. At home to Bochum on MD32 I could own him again. Bochum have lost their last four away games on the spin and have only won away once all season which came way back on MD10. This is a real crunch match near the foot of the table with both teams being two points off the relegation play-off spot.
Bochum comfortably won the reverse fixture 3-0 and a win for either side would probably secure their Bundesliga survival for another year. Gosens will look to add to his six league goals this season in a game where Die Eisernen will be looking to exact some sweet revenge.
Ian Maatsen (9.8m ON SALE / 5% / BVB)
I say I could own Gosens again and that is because I could own an on sale Maatsen instead. His cut-price deal comes at a time too where Dortmund have a favourable fixture run to end the season with so you can buy him now and leave him in your squad for the remaining fixtures. Next up on MD32 is Augsburg at home who are coming into this tie off the back of the aforementioned loss to Bremen.
Dortmund can finish no lower than fifth which may be enough to secure UCL qualification this season, but being in contention to win the UCL this season still they will want to go into their second-leg against PSG this week with a weekend league win under their belt. It was not too long ago that Maatsen hauled, 20pts on MD24, so managers be aware of what he can be capable of on his day.
- Alternatives – Guerreiro (14.7m / 10% TSB / FCB) / Maehle (7.6m / 1% TSB / WOB) / Mainka (4m / 14% / HDH).
Midfielders – Dani Olmo (16m / 21% TSB / RBL)
Die Roten Bullen have upcoming back to back fixtures I can see them scoring heavily in. I had considered Brandt against Augsburg but given that game is wedged inbetween their UCL semi-final ties I am unsure what kind of team Edin Terzić will put out.
That opens up a spot for Spaniard Olmo who has slowly been regaining the form we all know he is capable of displaying. Olmo has been pulling in 12.5pts per game over his last six outings with this despite only scoring once and assisting once in that time. A haul is surely just around the corner…
Jan-Niklas Beste (11.1m / 34% TSB / HDH)
Despite Beste’s last real fantasy haul coming back on MD14 (26pts at home to Darmstadt) the former German youth international has always remained highly owned. He still manages to return double-digit scores every other week so it is no wonder that today a third of fantasy managers still own him.
Earlier on in the season his hauls tended to come at the Voith-Arena and that is where Heidenheim are on MD32, hosting Mainz in the final game of the matchday. I always like to own someone in the last game, just in case I need a hero to save the day. Beste could be that hero this weekend.
Romano Schmid (8m / 2% TSB / SVW)
At the cheaper end of the spectrum, and if you are strapped for cash with premium assets elsewhere, Bremen’s Schmid represents great value at just 8m. Bremen are having a late resurgence at the backend of the season and Schmid is playing a big part.
The Austrian international has an attacking return in each of his last two games (one goal and one assist) for Die Grün-Weißen and will be looking to take that form into Bremen’s MD32 home game against Gladbach.
- Alternatives – Brandt (19.1m / 8% TSB / BVB) / Arnold (12m / 1% TSB / WOB) / Lee (8.9m / 1% TSB / M05).
Forwards – Loïs Openda (20.8m / 53% TSB / RBL)
The Belgian is in scintillating form averaging 16.5pts per game across his last four matches. In those four games Openda has scored five goals and supplied three assists and now comes up against the side with the worst xGA at home in the Bundesliga.
Hoffenheim have a home xGA of 1.52xGA and it was only on MD30 they conceded three at home (but still won that 4-3). The Sinsheim club also conceded three times last matchday in a 3-2 loss away at Bochum. By far Leipzig’s leading man is the stand out candidate up front to place that all important star on.
Jonas Wind (14.1m / 1% TSB / WOB)
With back to back wins Wolfsburg have all but ensured Bundesliga safety after a poor season which saw them part ways with their manager. After of run eleven winless games Hasenhüttl has come in and steadied what was a sinking ship with three wins in their last five.
Despite all of that Danish striker Wind has amassed 17 attacking returns this season with 10 goals and seven assists. An upcoming MD32 home game against relegated Darmstadt could be just what he needs to try and get to 20 goals and assists for the season, which would be a fantastic return in what has been a turbulent season.
Marvin Ducksch (13.7m / 1% TSB / SVW)
After six losses in seven games Bremen have now won their last two games and are in with a small chance of securing entry into next season’s Europa Conference League. That would be of course if Germany obtain a fifth UCL spot through the UEFA coefficient ratings, which is looking very likely. Two of their last three games are very winnable at least and on MD32 they host the Foals who have a league second worst xGA away of 1.97xGA.
Ducksch has come back into form right at end of the season with three goals and an assist in those two Bremen wins. I will replace Burkardt this week whose Mainz side travel to Heidenheim and right now it looks like a coin flip will have to decide whether it is Wind or Ducksch who comes in.
- Alternatives – Gregoritsch (14.3m / 3% TSB / SCF) / Kleindienst (11.7m / 8% TSB / HDH) / Woltemade (3.6m ON SALE / 0% TSB / SVW).
