Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 30 expert picks and team

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we look at the latest edition of Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 30 expert picks and team. @FPLGunnersaurus (Jay) joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead. In addition, he also shares his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making their own decisions within their teams. Checking out the Matchday 30 expert picks and team can help for the round ahead.

MD30 Top 4 Targets – Donyell Malen (FOR – 13.7m – 10% owned – Borussia Dortmund)

There are a plethora of great forward options this matchday. Managers are spoilt for choice if they need to make a change to their forward line. A Bayern forward looks like a shoe-in. However, who starts up front for them is anyone’s guess under Tuchel. Other choices include the in-form Diaby (16.4m – 18% owned), the ever deadly Kolo Muani (15.1m – 53% owned) and Werner (15.9m – 7% owned) who bagged two goals and an assist last time he played at home.

That said it is Malen who I am recommending this week. He finds himself in a purple patch, having scored a further two goals in a MD29 4-0 win over Frankfurt. That takes his tally to six goals and three assists in his last five games. The Dutch forward plays in the first kick-off of MD30 on Friday night, away to Bochum. The expected goals table indicates that we could see a heavy win for Dortmund, as Bochum sit second worst for xGA at home (1.72xGA) and Dortmund are second best for xG away (1.92xGA). Still only sitting at 10% ownership, Malen is differential enough for those chasing rank and trying to climb up the leader board. Malen is my MUST HAVE pick for MD30.

Christopher Nkunku (MID – 17.3m – 7% owned – RB Leipzig)

One of the easier transfers to make for MD30 (at least for the 59% of managers who currently own him) is the switch from the suspended Dominik Szoboszlai to French superstar Nkunku. Thanks to the Hungarian’s form this season managers can switch to Nkunku at no extra cost. This is because both players are priced at 17.3m. Nkunku, despite missing nine games this season through injury, is still the eighth best midfielder in the Bundesliga Fantasy game with 213 points.

Nobody needs reminding just how good he is, but just in case you do he has returned double-digit fantasy scores on 10 occasions this season. Having been eased into action during the last two fixtures Nkunku is expected to replace Szoboszlai in Leipzig’s starting XI. Leipzig host Hoffenheim in a must win game. After their MD29 defeat to the resurgent Leverkusen they now find themselves outside of the Champion’s League qualification places. Nkunku has the star power to elevate the whole team and I expect them to bounce back this weekend in a comfortable win, with Nkunku returning well.

Benjamin Pavard (DEF – 13.8m – 6% owned – FC Bayern München)

Picking a Bayern forward who starts is like playing a game of roulette at the moment, however with Alphonso Davies picking up an injury early on during their MD29 3-1 loss to Mainz the full-back positions look a bit more secure. The preferred pairing now looks to be Cancelo (14m – 16% owned) and Frenchman Pavard. Due to his recent goalscoring form it is Pavard who gets the nod as my defender pick this MD, although I will be doubling up on the Bayern defence with Cancelo too.

The Bavarian giants host bottom of the table Hertha Berlin which could not come at a better time. Bayern need a win to keep their hopes of a 33rd Bundesliga title alive, and they need a big win too to remind everyone just how easily they can dismantle any side they come up against. Pavard has starred under new boss Tuchel, returning double digit fantasy scores in his last two games. Just before then he scored twice and returned 22 points in a 5-3 home win over Augsburg in MD24. If I only had to choose one Bayern defender, Pavard would just pip Cancelo so look to bring him (or both) in for MD30. Taking all of the above into account, Pavard is an easy addition to my Matchday 30 expert picks.

Lukáš Hrádecký (GK – 10.1m ON SALE – 3% owned – Bayer 04 Leverkusen)

As he is on sale and because he is the league’s most in form goalkeeper, it is the Finnish number one who is my goalkeeper pick for MD30. Leverkusen’s defence has drastically improved as of late. They have kept three clean sheets in their last four games. Hrádecký has played his part in that as can be seen from his fantasy returns for shots saved, picking up 15 points across those three clean sheets for keeping the ball out of the net.

Leverkusen travel to high-flying Union Berlin Saturday afternoon. However, Union are not known for scoring many. In fact, when looking at the top half of the table they have scored the fewest. The hopes of a clean sheet are there for Hrádecký and with Union continuing to push for a top four place you would expect him to be in the firing line too, saving plenty of shots throughout the game.
