Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 28 Expert Picks and Team Reveal
We look ahead to Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 28. We bring in a regular FFC contributor and Bundesliga Fantasy expert @Big4FPL who sits 93rd in the world. He reveals his team and plans for the new round. He also shares one of the best defenders, midfielders and forwards to buy this week.
Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 28 is here so getting ready for the new round could be crucial. Our top picks and expert team reveal could be hugely significant and massive contributing factors in the decisions we have to make in our own teams this week.
Matchday 28 Preview
Following a strange week where none of the big hitters returned massively, but the likes of the Leverkusen/Leipzig mids and defenders still delivered solid scores from a stats basis (Baumann and Zentner making a huge number of saves as a result), it feels like this week could be similar with all of Bayern, Leverkusen and Stuttgart away from home. In saying this, I fully expect a Bayern rebound vs a Heidenheim team who conceded three vs Stuttgart last week – despite looking like they may hold out for a win.
The question mark has been thrown out there by Tuchel though, who has conceded the league…will this lead to rest and rotation around the UCL? Or maybe provide a drop in pressure to deliver that removes the shackles from the team.
Elsewhere, the Mainz vs Darmstadt fixture removes two teams that us Bundesliga managers have come accustomed to targeting – and I’m not convinced players from either team are worth a punt playing vs one another.
Top Picks
I’ll try to avoid the obvious, noting a player from each position who could provide a different option in a fairly set template right now:
Defender – Mitchell Weiser
Back from suspension and with a current lowly ownership of 4%, I would expect Weiser comes straight in for the Friday game (which we can see the line-ups pre deadline) and against an Eintracht team who haven’t been at their best all season has a chance of attacking contributions.
Midfielder – Julian Brandt
Earlier in the season Brandt was almost a must, but a bit of a mid season slump with injuries/illness and general loss of Dortmund form means the 6th highest point scoring mid in the game can be picked up at 6% ownership. Returns of nine, 15 and eight points in his last three may not be huge, but ahead of their UCL quarter final I think Dortmund will want to build on their result vs Bayern as they still fight to ensure a UCL place for next season.
Forward – Maximilian Beier
I still think the template strike force of Kane, Openda and Guirassy/Undav is the play here but if fancying a differential Beier has quietly had a very solid season. We know he has potential for hauls in his locker (21 points vs Werder) so a home match vs Augsburg gives another opportunity for a differential haul.

Plans
- Despite 13.5m in the bank and five transfers, I think it will be a relatively quiet week on the transfer front for me.
- The only moves I’m considering are: Zetterer -> Kobel (if fit) Mittelstadt-> Weiser Olmo -> Brandt But in all likelihood, barring team news, it’s maybe only the Brandt move I go for.
- Star men seem to only offer differential options in midfield this season. Kane and Grimaldo get the template stars then it’s a toss up between Musiala, Simons and Wirtz for midfield – leaning towards Musiala right now despite a three-point flop last MD.
