Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 26 expert picks and team

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we look at the latest edition of Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 26 expert picks and team. @FPLGunnersaurus (Jay) joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead. In addition, he also shares his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making their own decisions within their teams. Checking out the Matchday 26 expert picks and team can help for the round ahead.

Matchday 26 top targets Omar Marmoush (FOR – 7.3m ON SALE – 1% owned – VfL Wolfsburg)

Two forwards should be locked into most MD26 squads with both Kolo Muani (14.7m – 53% owned) and Füllkrug (9.7m – 57% owned) facing relegation threatened opposition in standalone home games. The other forward spot is up for grabs. Managers could play it safe with a Bayern attacker, go with Thuram (14.3m – 12% owned) against a woeful Köln side or they could go with a huge differential.

That differential could be Egyptian international Omar Marmoush. Prior to the international break Marmoush hit fantasy form with three consecutive returns of 10 points, 10 points and 13 points. He also netted twice for Egypt over the international break, carrying on that Bundesliga form. MD26 sees Die Wölfe host Augsburg, one of only two teams whose away xGA suggest they should be conceding twice on their travels. Being on sale managers will also get some money back when they sell Marmoush – a very attractive MD26 proposition indeed.

Ritsu Doan (MID – 10.2m ON SALE – 9% owned – Sport-Club Freiburg)

Teammate Vincenzo Grifo (17.1m – 54% owned) is the most popular Freiburg pick but will fantasy managers be seduced by a Black Forest midfield double-up by also adding Japanese star Doan to their MD26 squads?

On sale and with a very favourable home game Doan is a tempting transfer in. He has been on and off the bench all season, however started the last two games hitting back to back double-digit fantasy returns and scoring in both games. Freiburg forward Gregoritsch is also suspended for MD26, so Doan should and is expected to start. Freiburg host Hertha Berlin at the Europa-Park Stadion and will be looking to continue their push for Champions League qualification. Hertha have lost their last eight away games, going back to September, and on Saturday it could be Doan’s day to inflict further damage on the capital city club.

Mitchell Weiser (DEF – 4.9m – 29% owned – SV Werder Bremen)

Weiser still remains the best budget defender in the game. It wasn’t too long ago where he was considered essential, however after missing matchdays 21-22 due to injury he hasn’t hit his previous heights since. Need a reminder though of just how good the right back is? Weiser has eight double-digit fantasy returns including two 20-points return, has registered seven assists and has also found the back of the net on one occasion.

In the last game of MD26 Bremen host 15th place Hoffenheim and although they finally won last time out, the last time they won away was way back in mid-October. Weiser makes for a fantastic option to bring on from your bench if need be and I for one will certainly be bringing him back into the fold for MD26. Because of this he makes my Matchday 26 expert picks.

Manuel Riemann (GK – 7.7m ON SALE – 5% owned – VfL Bochum 1848)

Perhaps it was his MD25 heroics which caused Riemann to fit the sale criteria for MD26, which saw him return a massive 18 points in Bochum’s shock 1-0 victory over Leipzig. Being on sale is a reason enticing enough to bring him in but add to that he rotates with 12 other goalkeepers for at least six of the remaining matchdays (for me that’s with Fährmann up to and including MD31) and he becomes even more enticing.

Let’s not forget as well that behind all that Riemann leads the way for shots saved and in fantasy terms that translates to 138 points for that metric alone. Despite only four clean sheets this season, Manu is the fourth highest scoring keeper in the game and it’s his penchant for saves which sees him there. Up next is an away tie to Frankfurt with Kolo Muani likely to pester his goal. It’s not often I recommend a goalkeeper expected to lose a game but win, lose or draw it doesn’t seem matter for Riemann in the fantasy game.
