Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 23 Top Picks

Last modified date

The season of German League football continues! So, we take a look at the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 23 top picks. Bundesliga Fantasy expert and regular contributor @FPLGunnersaurus reveals three of the best defenders, midfielders and forwards for the new round.

The Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 23 top picks can be extremely useful for managers. With lots of changes to the game this season it could be difficult to adjust for managers. But the following top picks can help you bring clarity to some of the decisions you have to make ahead of the deadline.

Defenders – Premium – Alejandro Grimaldo (20m / 11% TSB / B04)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 23 Top Picks

Following a suspension, Leverkusen’s MD22 tie against Bayern wasn’t the game to bring Grimaldo back for, however an away trip to Holstein Kiel certainly is.

It was only on MD17 most recently where the Spanish star reminded managers of his haul potential, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Mainz and raking in 400pts in Bundesliga Fantasy. If there’s ever a game to remind the 89% non-owners what he can do, it’s this one.

Mid-price – Anthony Caci (10m / 10% / M05)

Frenchman Caci returned from his one match suspension in MD22 with a reasonable score of 213pts as his Mainz side picked up a 2-0 away win over Heidenheim. On MD23 the 05ers host St. Pauli, a game in which we may see more attacking threat from the fullback.

When Caci gets an attacking return he tends to score big, as can be seen with an assist and 344pts on MD16, and a goal and 332pts on MD19.

Budget – Lukas Ullrich (5m / 4% TSB / BMG)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 23 Top Picks

Ullrich has been one of Gladbach’s success stories so far this season, having firmly nailed down a starting spot in the Foals’ starting XI. He went on and scored his first goal this season last time out when his side picked up a big away win over Union Berlin and returned 297pts in the process.

Gladbach host Augsburg this week in another very winnable game, and if you’re looking for a budget alternative to Frankfurt’s Brown this week, Ullrich could be your guy.

Midfielders – Premium – Xavi Simons (17m / 29% TSB / RBL)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I truly believe Leipzig are two different sides when they play home and away. At home they’re a side capable of winning the league but away they’re a side that could genuinely be in a relegation scrap.

Their form tends to reflect in the points their assets put up in the fantasy games and for Simons it’s no different. Fortunately Die Roten Bullen host Heidenheim at home on MD23 and Simons does tend to return incredibly well on home soil. If it wasn’t for Wirtz playing against Kiel I’d be inclined to stick the star on the Dutchman too.

Mid-price – Jamie Gittens (10m / 33% TSB / BVB)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 23 Top Picks

Despite Dortmund’s woeful form and slide down the table, I still don’t think you can go to wrong with Gittens as a pick this weekend. He’s only 10m so doesn’t take up a huge amount of budget and he does have a favourable fixture at home against Union Berlin.

His scores across the season have remained fairly consistent above the 200pts mark, and this may be the game Dortmund start their season, only the six months after it actually kicked off.

Budget – Tom Bischof (5m / 58% TSB / TSG)

After not owning Bischof for the past few weeks and seeing my rank plummet in tandem it’s safe to say Bischof should just be a set and forget in your midfield. He returned a second 370+pts haul in a row on MD22 this time in a win which also saw him net his third league goal of the season.

I think it’s a fair statement to say that Bischof is Bundesliga Fantasy’s bargain of the season. Oh, Hoffenheim host Stuttgart on MD23, but the fixture never seems to matter for the young star anyway…

Forwards – Premium – Serhou Guirassy (19m / 12% TSB / BVB)

With Harry Kane saying in his post-match interview he doesn’t think he’ll play this weekend against Frankfurt, it’s slim pickings for premium options up top.

After back to back Bundesliga losses surely it’s time for Dortmund to experience that new manager bounce and for Guirassy to come up with a mammoth fantasy haul. Die Schwarzgelben host Union Berlin who away from home have lost four of their last five fixtures.

Mid-price – Tim Kleindienst (12m / 30% TSB / BMG)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 23 Top Picks

Rarely explosive but always consistent are the words I’d use to summarise Gladbach’s leading man’s fantasy score this season. Even when he scores he tends to never go big, but on the odd occasion he does.

A MD23 home match against Augsburg is as good a game as any for the German international forward to do so again and score in his sixth consecutive Bundesliga game.

Budget – Jonathan Burkardt (10m / 5% TSB / M05)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 23 Top Picks

On his full return from injury Jonny B played two thirds of the win over Heidenheim last week and was right back in the thick of the action with a goal and an assist. On MD23, Burkardt should definitely see more minutes and against St. Pauli you’d think he’d get some more goal involvements too.

He has 15 G/A to his name so far with 13 goals and two assists, and we know Mainz are in a rich vein of form at home having won four of the last five at the Opel Arena.
