The season of German League football continues! So, we take a look at the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 22 top picks. Bundesliga Fantasy expert and regular contributor @FPLGunnersaurus reveals three of the best defenders, midfielders and forwards for the new round.
The Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 22 top picks can be extremely useful for managers. With lots of changes to the game this season it could be difficult to adjust for managers. But the following top picks can help you bring clarity to some of the decisions you have to make ahead of the deadline.
Defenders – Premium – Mitchel Weiser (13m / 19% TSB / SVW)
![Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 22 Top Picks](https://i0.wp.com/fantasyfootballcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2025-01-25T160042Z_1148691362_UP1EL1P18H5YD_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-GERMANY-BVB-SVW-REPORT-1.jpg?resize=680%2C438&ssl=1)
Weiser’s fantasy returns may have dipped as of late. But, with a home game against Hoffenheim on the horizon I wouldn’t bet against him putting up huge score on MD22. Bremen’s opponents have only won one away game all season and that was against Kiel.
Five times Weiser has returned a matchday score of 320pts or more. So, I’ll make him my star defender and hope he does it for a sixth time on this outing.
Mid-price – Bernardo (11m / 2% / BOC)

Bochum’s Brazilian Bernardo is putting up some serious fantasy scores as of late. 575pts combined in the last two games, largely courtesy of 456 duel point, gives managers a good reason to put him in their teams this week.
A home game against Dortmund sounds like one of those games Bernardo is going to rack up those duel points again.
Budget – Nathaniel Brown (5m / 50% TSB / SGE)
![Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 22 Top Picks](https://i0.wp.com/fantasyfootballcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2025-01-17T203717Z_1162686183_UP1EL1H1LA4Q4_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-GERMANY-SGE-BVB-REPORT-1.jpg?resize=680%2C503&ssl=1)
With a home game against Kiel, I can’t look past Brown again for MD22. He’s a nailed starter (at least until UEL action picks up again) and is only 5m.
He’s regularly putting up scored of 200pts+ and with this game against Kiel you’d expect he could far exceed that baseline. Dare I say he too is star defender material this matchday?
Midfielders – Premium – Xavi Simons (17m / 21% TSB / RBL)
![](https://i0.wp.com/fantasyfootballcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2024-10-19T135327Z_488128372_UP1EKAJ12L18R_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-GERMANY-M05-RBL-REPORT-1.jpg?resize=680%2C455&ssl=1)
With the top two sides facing off against each other on MD22, a door opens for someone different to take up the star midfielder mantle. I’ll certainly be placing the star on the now 100% Leipzig owned Simons as Die Roten Bullen travel to Augsburg on Friday night. Away form tends to be a problem for Leipzig. But, they need the win to keep them in Champions League contention.
Mid-price – Vincenzo Grifo (12m / 19% TSB / SCF)
![Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 22 Top Picks](https://i0.wp.com/fantasyfootballcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2024-10-26T133716Z_1013689773_UP1EKAQ11U2Q2_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-GERMANY-RBL-SCF-REPORT-1.jpg?resize=680%2C484&ssl=1)
I’ll keep Grifo here another week ahead of an away trip to St. Pauli. Last week he scored the only goal of the game in a home win against Heidenheim and hopefully that can spark the run of good form that we saw from him at the start of the Bundesliga season. Freiburg won their last away game after a run of three away losses and will want make it back to back away victories.
Budget – Tom Bischof (5m / 54% TSB / TSG)
![](https://i0.wp.com/fantasyfootballcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2025-01-30T212140Z_768714037_UP1EL1U1NC25H_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-EUROPA-AND-TSG-REPORT-1.jpg?resize=680%2C438&ssl=1)
I’m running out of things to say as to why Bischof should be a staple of all teams. Across the season he averages 787.4pts per million spent which is incredible. Even in a 4-0 home defeat to Union Berlin last week he scored a mammoth 379pts with minimal points for attacking returns. It’s Bremen away for the Die Kraichgauer on Sunday afternoon.
Forwards – Premium – Serhou Guirassy (19m / 6% TSB / BVB)
![](https://i0.wp.com/fantasyfootballcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2025-02-11T212226Z_1707354739_UP1EL2B1NDCTF_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-CHAMPIONS-SCP-BVB-REPORT-1.jpg?resize=680%2C426&ssl=1)
A goal and an assist in midweek UCL action puts Guirassy in good form ahead of a must win game. A local derby beckons away at Bochum and the team in black and yellow simply must win. This is to halt their slide down the table which currently sees them in eleventh position.
Mid-price – Hugo Ekitiké (12m / 48% TSB / SGE)
![Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 22 Top Picks](https://i0.wp.com/fantasyfootballcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/2025-02-08T180719Z_1270769474_UP1EL281EC5HG_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-GERMANY-BMG-SGE-REPORT-1.jpg?resize=680%2C483&ssl=1)
This pick is simply a no brainer. One of the most in-form strikers in the league is playing at home against the team who have shipped the most goals in the Bundesliga. Ekitiké and his Frankfurt side host Holstein Kiel and there should be plenty of chances for him to add to his 12 league goals so far.
Budget – Benedict Hollerbach (8m / 5% TSB / FCU)

I never thought I’d see the day when a Union Berlin forward made this article. Three goals in four games as well as being Bundesliga Fantasy’s most in form striker gives him good reason to be here however.
Could the 4-0 thrashing of Hoffenheim last week be the start of a Union side that scores goals week in and week out? Hollerbach at home to Gladbach could get your fantasy season back on track.
