Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 18 Top Picks
The new season of German League football continues! So, we take a look at the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 18 top picks. Bundesliga Fantasy expert and regular contributor @FPLGunnersaurus reveals three of the best defenders, midfielders and forwards for the new round.
The Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 18 top picks can be extremely useful for managers. With lots of changes to the game this season it could be difficult to adjust for managers. But the following top picks can help you bring clarity to some of the decisions you have to make ahead of the deadline.
Defenders – Premium – Alejandro Grimaldo (20m / 26% TSB / B04)
Grimaldo’s stock may be falling. But, on MD17 he reminded non-owners what they potentially can miss out on. Only 26% of Bundesliga Fantasy managers own the Spaniard and they were duly rewarded for keeping the faith.
He scored the only goal of Die Werkself’s 1-0 victory over in-form Mainz and returned 395pts in Bundesliga Fantasy. This was his second biggest return of the season so far. It’s a tasty local derby up next on MD18 which sees the champions host Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Mid-price – Anthony Caci (10m / 12% / M05)
One of two picks from Die Nullfünfer this matchday and for good reason. The French left-back, who has only ever featured for his country at the 2021 Olympics, averages around 200pts per game. That’s 20pts per million spent.
I’ve mentioned before that for a player to be a success in my squad I’d want them returning those kinds of returns and Caci does just that. He can be explosive too, with three returns above 300pts this season. Away to Union Berlin on MD18, we may see another one of those displays in the capital city.
Budget – Derrick Köhn (8m / 2% TSB / SWV)
If you’re looking for a cheaper version of Bremen’s Weiser, albeit not with the same ceiling, then take a look at his teammate Köhn. Köhn is currently on loan from Turkish giants Galatasaray and Die Werderaner, based on his current form, may look to trigger the €5.125m option to sign him permanently.
He has three attacking returns since MD14 and despite a shaky performance in their midweek draw against Heidenheim, he should have chances to add to those returns in another home tie against MD18 opponents Augsburg.
Midfielders – Premium – Jamal Musiala (20m / 31% TSB / FCB)
After missing MD16 due to illness, Musiala could only make an appearance off the bench in Bayern’s MD17 midweek 5-0 thrashing of Hoffenheim. That’s good news for anyone planning on bringing him in, as it’s almost guaranteed that he starts on MD18 against a resurgent Wolfsburg side.
Regardless of Wolfsburg’s recent form, Bayern are imperious on home turf with a league leading 27 goals. For me Bambi alongside Wirtz and Kane are players managers should just build their squads around.
Mid-price – Enzo Millot (11m / 10% TSB / VFB)
He was benched in their 2-1 MD17 victory over Leipzig. But, that was likely with a view to rest him ahead of MD18 and a crucial UCL fixture next week Stuttgart simply have to win. Managers know what the Frenchman can do. In fact he has managed fantasy returns of 513pts, 311pts and 375pts which is evidence of that and Stuttgart’s MD18 opponents are known for some big away losses.
Freiburg haven’t won away from home since the start of October and have seen some hammerings on their travels – results of 4-1, 5-1, 4-0 and 3-1 against them.
Budget – Tom Bischof (5m / 30% TSB / TSG)
There’s still no better consistent budget midfielder in the game than Hoffenheim’s young playmaker. Even on MD17 away against Bayern Bischof still scored 111pts in an appearance he only featured 67 minutes in.
For 5m who can complain about that? On MD18 Die Kraichgauer travel to Holstein Kiel. That game should provide plenty of opportunity for Bischof to be involved and return well for his fantasy owners.
Forwards – Premium – Leroy Sané (16m / 19% TSB / FCB)
Sané has firmly re-established himself in Kompany’s starting XI and to my surprise is actually owned by a fifth of all fantasy managers. Those who owned the German international on MD18 were smiling from ear to ear as he scored twice and raked in a season high fantasy score of 392pts.
With Olise and Musiala likely joining him behind Kane on MD18 against Wolfsburg, we could see Sané on the scoresheet once again with arguably better players around him.
Mid-price – Andrej Kramarić (10m / 2% TSB / TSG)
If he’s not suspended after his post match comments after their defeat to Bayern, then Hoffenheim’s Croatian sensation could be one to watch on MD18.
He did say he wanted to change things himself. What better way to do that by firing his club to victory against Holstein Kiel. There could be lots of goals in this one which leads me to my next pick…
Budget – Phil Harres (3m / 11% TSB / KSV)
As of late Kiel frontman Harres is the only budget striker providing consistent returns. He scored his fifth goal in three games on MD17 in their shock 4-2 win over Dortmund. He also added his first assist of the season.
In the fantasy game, he has now scored 723pts in his last three games. Valued at 3m, that’s 80pts per million spent! Four-stein Kiel host Hoffenheim on MD18. This is a game they will be looking to win in their continued bid for Bundesliga survival.
