Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 15 Top Picks

Last modified date

The new season of German League football continues! So, we take a look at the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 15 top picks. Bundesliga Fantasy expert and regular contributor @FPLGunnersaurus reveals three of the best defenders, midfielders and forwards for the new round.

The Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 15 top picks can be extremely useful for managers. With lots of changes to the game this season it could be difficult to adjust for managers. But the following top picks can help you bring clarity to some of the decisions you have to make ahead of the deadline.

Note: With the annual winter break following this Matchday, managers will benefit from another unlimited transfers period before MD16, so make your MD15 moves based on MD15 fixtures only.

Defenders – Premium – Maximilian Mittelstädt – (17m / 9% TSB / VFB)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 15 Top Picks

Last matchday I asked myself the question is Mittelstädt worth his 17m price tag? For me I want my players to return 20pts per million to consider them a success. Last matchday I opted against the left-back and he went on to net 301pts whilst scoring his first league goal this season.

At home to St. Pauli on MD15 I definitely can see him scoring 20pts per million spent and that’s why I’m changing my formation to a 4-4-2 to accommodate him.

Mid-price – Mitchell Weiser (13m / 8% / SVW)

A fantasy favourite, Mitchell Weiser rewarded owners including yours truly last week with 391pts against St. Pauli, which was his second biggest fantasy score this season. Weiser is not a traditional defender as we all know, and is largely involved in anything good that happens in attack, often also featuring out of position. With a home game against Union Berlin, who have lost their last three away games, this pick is a no-brainer.

Budget – Nathaniel Brown (5m / 27% TSB / SGE)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 15 Top Picks

Brown is by far the best budget defensive pick this matchday. Albeit a defender in the fantasy game, he plays left midfield for Die Adler, and from that he has benefited, returning three goals and two assists so far.

Frankfurt will be looking to put a disappointing few weeks behind them when they host Mainz on MD15 and I for one will be doubling up on my Frankfurt assets, picking Brown up and pairing him with frontman Marmoush.

Midfielders – Premium – Granit Xhaka (15m / 33% TSB / B04)

I think it would shock most fantasy managers to know that Xhaka is actually the third highest scoring player in the fantasy game. When you look back at his weekly returns however this becomes less of a surprise, as he has only failed to hit 200pts four times.

Xhaka’s points largely come from build-up play (over 1,200pts ) and from won duels (nearly 1000pts). Xhaka always has a thunderbolt goal in his back locker too.

Mid-price: Enzo Millot (11m / 14% TSB / VFB)

Millot was someone I very nearly sold last matchday. Thankfully I kept him and he picked up his second highest score this season, 375pts, away in a 3-1 over Heidenheim. Stuttgart haven’t hit the heights of last season, but they will look to cap off the hindrunde with another win this time at home over St. Pauli.

At home Stuttgart are only behind Bayern and Leverkusen for expected goals and only behind Dortmund for goals scored on home soil. This could be a happy hunting day for Millot and company.

Budget – Tom Bischof (5m / 39% TSB / TSG)

Hoffenheim’s young star is hot property at the moment, both in the real life transfer marker and the fantasy transfer market. If you don’t already own him, now is a perfect time to do so ahead of a home game against Gladbach.

Bischof has scored 300pts+ in each of his last two home league games, which saw him score in both. Hoffenheim will hope to capitalise on home advantage against a Foals side who are winless on the road since August.

Forwards – Premium – Harry Kane (20m / 12% TSB / FCB)

The Bundesliga’s top scorer has returned to full team training. By the time this is published we may have more news on whether he could make his return on MD15. Bayern feature in the Friday night game under the lights hosting RB Leipzig.

If Kane does make his comeback and starts, he’s back in my team, playing for a side dominant at home, having won their last four at the Allianz Arena.

Mid-price – Hugo Ekitiké (12m / 13% TSB / SGE)

This is an alternative pick to Marmoush, and I am in no way endorsing not owning the Egyptian striker this matchday. Ekitiké partnering him up front is a large reason why Marmoush has done so well and both benefit from each other.

The Frenchman himself has seven goals and three assists to his name so far this season, with a top fantasy score of 322pts on MD9 in that 7-2 thrashing of Bochum. It could be a differential move this matchday to pair them up together in your fantasy forward line.

Budget – Phil Harres (3m / 11% TSB / KSV)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 15 Top Picks

There’s a genuine case to potentially even start Harres in your fantasy XIs this matchday. Die Störche host Augsburg at the Holstein-Stadion and will be looking for only the second win of their Bundesliga campaign.

Only three sides, including Kiel, have conceded more than Augsburg. Die Fuggerstädter actually haven’t won yet away from home which should bolster Kiel’s prospects of victory and a return for forward Harres.
