Brighton Top Picks for FPL 2024/25

Last modified date

Fantasy Premier League has launched for another season. For that reason we continue to cover each team in the build up to the start of the new campaign. In this article we take a look at the Brighton top picks for FPL 2024/25.

Picking out the Brighton top picks for FPL 2024/25 could be really helpful for managers. The Seagulls could be one of several teams with the potential to offer some great value for money assets this season, so let’s see what we can find.

Former manager Roberto De Zerbi struggled to maintain form throughout his 23/24 and that meant an 11th place finish for Brighton. It is worth highlighting the fact they were also trying to balance Europa League football in the process. New manager Fabian Hurzeler will be hoping that without European football he can get the Seagulls back amongst the European spots.

24/25 Starting Fixtures

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker. We can also see that they rank 14th best on the ticker. Brighton face some tricky fixtures against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Brighton Defence

It was a mixed season for the Brighton defence last campaign. In fact when compared to every other side in 23/24 they ranked (best):

  • 14th – Clean sheets kept (six)
  • 11th – Total goals conceded
  • 7th – Expected goals conceded
  • 4th – Total shots in the box conceded
  • 6th – Total attempts conceded
  • 6th – Total shots on target conceded
  • 8th – Big chances conceded

Comparing the Brighton Defensive Players

Comparing all of the Brighton defensive assets is crucial in picking out the best options. With that in mind we take a look at their minutes and attacking threat.

There was plenty of changes at the back for Brighton throughout their latest campaign but one player who managed closest to the 3000 minute mark is Lewis Dunk (£4.5m).

The second highest player for minutes, and completing the centre-back partnership was Paul Van Hecke (£4.5m) who managed 2378 minutes.

There is clear rotation between goalkeepers Bart Verbruggen (£4.5m) and Jason Steele (£4.5m) who both ranged between 1500-1800 minutes.

Full-back Pervis Estupinan (£5m) missed out on a considerable amount of gametime due to injuries.

Filling in whilst Estupinan is out (expected back September 14th) is Valentin Barco (£4m).

What is interesting is that although Estupinan played well under half the gametime Dunk did he still managed to edge him for attacking returns with five. Three goals and one assist for Dunk however is still very good.

Van Hecke was one of several defensive assets who couldn’t muster up a single goal contribution last season.

Conclusion

One player who seems to be up there for both minutes played and attacking returns is Lewis Dunk. The centre-back comes in at the same price as Van Hecke and £0.5m cheaper than Estupinan which is significant.

Whilst we wait for Estupinan to recover Barco at £4m could be the cheapest route into the Brighton backline.

Brighton Attack

When comparing the Brighton attackers only one has managed 3000+ minute. Unfortunately, Pascal Gross recently transferred over to Dortmund which rules him out completely.

The next best player for gametime was midfielder Simon Adingra (£5.5m) who played 2245 minutes. The only other player to feature for more than 2000 minutes last campaign was striker Joao Pedro (£5.5m).

Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) played just 1496 minutes for Brighton mostly due to injuries. Fellow midfielder Solly March (£6.5m) also played little gametime due to injuries. March is expected to return September 14th.

It is no surprise that the now departed Pascal Gross produced the most attacking returns with 15.

Joao Pedro racked up the second most goal contributions with nine goals and three assists.

Impressively Kaoru Mitoma played much less minutes than the some of his teammates and still bagged nine attacking returns.

Solly March banked four attacking returns in just seven matches.

Additional Notes

Brighton recently signed in-game midfielder Yankuba Minteh (£5.5m) who scored in both of his first two pre-season matches.

Minteh is one of many attackers Brighton have at their disposal which could be a concern when it comes to gametime across the board.

Conclusion

As mentioned above, Brighton have huge squad depth in regards to attacking personnel. This means we could see minutes managed across the board.

However, one player who seems to be important to the Brighton attack is penalty taker Joao Pedro. He also comes in nice and cheap.

It may not be long before the likes of Kaoru Mitoma and Solly March become key again for the Seagulls.

Top Picks

After comparing all players for both minutes and attacking potential the Brighton Top Picks for FPL 2024/25 are:

  • Joao Pedro
  • Lewis Dunk
  • Valentin Barco
  • Kaoru Mitoma
