League Two Teams with the Best and Worst Fixtures

Last modified date

EURO 2024 is already coming to a close and English League football is just on the horizon. English sides will be hoping to start the 24/25 season well so with that in mind we take a look at the League Two teams with the best and worst fixtures to start the season.

Knowing the League Two teams with the best and worst fixtures to start the season could be crucial for fantasy managers. EFL recently announced that there would be a new fantasy game based on the Championship, League One and League Two so being prepared could be a wise move.

Teams with the Best Fixtures

Cheltenham were hugely disappointing last season. 12 wins, eight draws and a huge 26 losses meant they finished their campaign in 21st place. Relegation wasn’t expected for Cheltenham so they will be looking to make an immediate return to League One.

Newport lay ahead in the first round, a fixture they will hope to win. Cheltenham then come up against a Grimsby side who finished 21st in the previous season, Wimbledon, Walsall, Harrogate and Salford, the latter ended their last campaign in 20th place.

Another side hoping for a good season is Crewe. Crewe were one of several sides who made the League Two play-offs. Although edging past Doncaster they eventually missed out against Crawley who beat them comfortably 2-0.

Crewe have a fairly good starting schedule, starting with a meeting against Barrow. They then face newly promoted side Chesterfield, Swindon who finished 19th last season, newly promoted Bromley and Morecambe.

Fleetwood could be another side to keep an early eye on. After being relegated from League One last season they will need some early points on the board to make a quick return. Fixtures against Grimsby, Notts County, Gillingham, Wimbledon and Salford could be great opportunities to do exactly that.

Teams with the Worst Fixtures

Salford need to improve this season. 13 losses, 12 draws and 21 losses last season meant they finished in 20th place which is nowhere near where they want to be. But, with the start to the season they have in terms of schedule, they may have it tough.

Salford come up against Port Vale in their opening match, a side who will be expecting to return to League One this season. They then face fixtures against Bradford who were just short of the play-offs last season, MK Dons and then Fleetwood.

Barrow are another side who may struggle early on this season. They face promotion chasing Crewe, then a Carlisle side who will be hoping to make an immediate return to League One, then Port Vale who have the same objectives as Crewe.

Things could be easier for Grimsby Town too. As mentioned above Grimsby ended their 23/24 campaign in 21st place. With matches against promotion chasing Fleetwood, Cheltenham and Bradford early on, their fortune may not change anytime soon.
