Best Wildcard Team for UCL Fantasy Matchday 14

Last modified date

This week could be a great opportunity to play a chip. But, if you’re not sure how your squad should look, then you’re in the right place. Here we build the best wildcard team for UCL Fantasy Matchday 14.

Knowing who to pick on your wildcard may be crucial to navigating the new fixtures and key player injuries, so let’s take a look.

Best Wildcard Team for UCL Fantasy Matchday 14

Having a goalkeeper on either side of the bracket will be key. Not only does Inter’ Yann Sommer (€5.5m) play at home this week, but his side also have a one goal lead over Bayern. Joining him, and on the other side of the bracket is PSG’ Gianluigi Donnarumma (€5.5m). The Italian has a good fixture ahead and a two goal advantage.

PSG’ two goal cushion and fact they could face Arsenal next makes backing their defence heavily a good route to take. Even if the likes of Achraf Hakimi (€5.7m) and Nuno Mendes (€5.8m) don’t keep a clean sheet, they have the potential to pick up points from goals and assists.

Arsenal are likely to progress. So, owning at least one of their defenders could be wise. For that reason centre-back William Saliba (€5.5m) makes the cut. A home match and a one goal advantage makes doubling up on the Inter defence appealing, Benjamin Pavard (€5m) is at a nice price to fill that role.

Having no Bayern coverage could be a nightmare if they turn things a round. So, selecting their standout defensive asset, centre-back Kim Min-Jae (€5.2m), could be wise. As well as clean sheet potential, he could also rack up ball recoveries.

You can also find out who the best captains are for Matchday 14. We also provided some differential options.

A fixture against the leaky Aston Villa is a great opportunity for the PSG attack to do even more damage this week. Arguably their safest and most exciting double up in attack is Ousmane Dembele (€8.5m) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€7.5m).

Dortmund’ defence remains one of the best to target with opposing attackers, whilst Barcelona go into the game with the most potent attack in the Champions League. Taking that into account, Raphinha (€7.8m) and Lamine Yamal (€7.3m) may well be shoo-ins. If they don’t start, then bringing in players that do could be wise.

Completing the midfield, and Arsenal’ most dangerous and effective attacker, is Bukayo Saka (€9m). Saka faces a poor Real Madrid defence, and owning him ahead of the next round could save on transfers.

Robert Lewandowski (€9.6m) completes the Barcelona triple up in attack. The hope is that Barcelona don’t mass rotate due to the four goal advantage. If he isn’t starting, UCL Fantasy managers could take a chance on Bayern’ Harry Kane (€10.9m).

Also in the forward line is Kylian Mbappe (€11.1m). Though Real Madrid look likely exit after this week, avoiding their frontline could be catastrophic. The Frenchman is also their most effective attacking option. Mbappe is joined by Marcus Thuram (€7.4m). Inter play at home, then face a poor Barcelona defence in the next round.
