Best Threemium draft for FPL

With the new season approaching many within the community are struggling to squeeze three pricey players into their squads. Because of this we take a look at how to fit Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold into a team with the best threemium draft for FPL.

Judging by the template so far Liverpool midfielder Mohamad Salah (£12.5m) has been the sacrifice many people have chosen to go without. The Egyptian bagged 19 goals and 12 assists last season but how can we fit him in? Taking a look at the best threemium draft in FPL can help with exactly that.

The best threemium draft

Formation

The starting line-up is a 4-4-2 formation which covers several different price-points to allow easy switches between other options if they pick up form. An example of this is Gabriel Jesus (£8m). His price allows the flexibility to move to say Christopher Nkunku (£7.5m) if he starts the season well.

Goalkeepers

  • Jordan Pickford (£4.5m) – Faces Fulham, Aston Villa, Wolves and Sheffield United in his first four fixtures. Because of this he has solid clean sheet potential to start the season.
  • Alphonse Areola (£4m) – Has the potential to be the only playing goalkeeper in the game if he can challenge for the number one spot.

Defence

  • Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8m) – One of the three premium players we have managed to fit in. Trent has been playing in a midfield role, increasing his chances of attacking returns. He also has the opportunity to keep clean sheets.
  • Gabriel (£5m) – Arsenal rank first on the fixture difficulty system for the first six matches. The Brazilian also has great threat from set pieces and at his price-point could be difficult to exlude.
  • Pervis Estupinan (£5m) – Brighton also rank highly on the season ticker and their most dangerous defender in terms of non-penalty expected goal involvement is Estupinan.
  • Sven Botman (£4.5m) – Newcastle may have tough starting fixtures but they maintained some of the best defensive stats in the league last season.
  • George Baldock (£4m) – The wing-back is the only starting £4m defender that does not blank in Gameweek 2 – he could make a very efficient bench player.

Midfielders

  • Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) – Brighton had more shots on target than any other team in the division last season. One player who could benefit from that is Mitoma – he also has some great starting fixtures.
  • Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) – The Egyptian is the second part of the threemium. Not only did his side sustain some of the best underlying offensive data last season but so did he in his position.
  • Bryan Mbeumo (£6.5m) – Brentford face Tottenham, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in their first four games. Although without star striker Ivan Toney, winger Mbeumo is expected to step up and also take penalties.
  • Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) – Arsenal’ early fixtures are irresistible and their standout attacker and penalty taker is Bukayo Saka.
  • Tommy Doyle (£4.5m) – He may have returned to Manchester City but Doyle could be about to re-join Sheffield United where he featured in 33 matches last season.

Forwards

  • Erling Haaland (£14m) – The final piece of the threemium puzzle. The Norwegian is the focal point and penalty taker to the best team in the league. He was also the highest scoring player in FPL last season and stands out as the best captaincy option in the early stages of the campaign.
  • Gabriel Jesus (£8m) – The Brazilian is one of the most reliable and cheapest ways into an impressive Arsenal attack whom also have fantastic starting fixtures.
  • Cameron Archer (£4.5m) – Will spend most if his time on the bench as third sub but could grow into a transitioning Aston Villa side with increased minutes.
