Best three under the radar picks for Gameweek 23

We take a look through the best three under the radar picks for Gameweek 23. Using the help of the fixture ticker and underlying stats from Fantasy Football Scout we can find some of the best lesser picked players in FPL for the new round ahead.

Looking at the best three under the radar picks for Gameweek 23 in FPL could be really beneficial to managers. Picking lesser selected players in the game can help gain rank or an edge over mini-league rivals so it’s always important to consider them.

Son Heung-min

Some may be surprised at how good some of Tottenham’s offensive data has been this season. Amongst all teams in the league they rank the third best for goals scored (41) and the second best for shots on target (116).

Tottenham face a Leicester side that have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six matches and have also conceded two or more goals in five in the same period, highlighting them as a team to target. If that wasn’t convincing enough, in the same period they also rank the worst team in the league for chances conceded down their right side (13) in the last six.

Targeting that weak right flank will be Tottenham midfielder Son Heung-min (£11.6m). It has been a poor season for the midfielder. Son’s ownership has dropped to 5.9%. Flying under the radar Son has the pace and quality to take advantage of a poor defensive unit in Gameweek 23.

Reece James

Whilst many managers within the community focus their efforts on double Gameweek players, there are some great options for teams that have just one fixture. Chelsea have been improving as of late and that can be reflected in their defensive stats.

The Blues have kept three clean sheets on the bounce. In addition to that in the last six matches they rank joint second for clean sheets kept (four), joint third for goals conceded (four) and third for big chances conceded (six). This suggests that their defence could hold great value moving forward, especially as fixtures improve.

Reece James (£5.7m) returned to first team football in Chelsea’s most recent match and looks set to start against West Ham in Gameweek 23. The Hammers rank the third worst team in the league in the last six for shots on target (19) so the potential for the Chelsea clean sheet is there. James also adds huge attacking threat. Last season he raked in 14 goal contributions, making him one of the most dangerous defenders in the league.

The Newcastle attack

Newcastle need to start scoring goals again soon and they could have huge opportunity to do just that in Gameweek 23. They face Bournemouth in the round ahead. The Cherries have been in an awful run of form as of late.

In their last 10 matches Bournemouth have kept just one clean sheet. They have also lost five of their last six matches in all competitions whilst conceding two or more goals in four of the same six. In addition, the promoted side rank the joint second worst for goals conceded (11) and the third worst for attempts conceded on goal (100).

Two players who may go under the radar are striker Callum Wilson (£7.1m) and midfielder Miguel Almiron (£5.7m). Although the latter is still heavily owned by parts of the game base, many of the most experienced managers have sold him. Will they regret that decision this week?
