Best rotation pairs in FPL 23/24

The new Premier League campaign is on the horizon so we take a look at some of the best rotation pairs in FPL 23/24. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area and some of its tools we can find some cheap pairings to navigate the schedule ahead.

Finding cheap players can be extremely helpful for long-term planning but finding the best rotation pairs can be even more beneficial as managers can potentially avoid the trickier fixtures whilst also targeting the easier ones.

Why are cheap rotational players beneficial?

Cheap players are very important for FPL managers. This is because they help to enable the more pricier options within our squads. That may be the case but finding two players who rotate well with each other around tough fixtures can effectively help to return more points for our teams than a singular cheap player would. It also means that managers won’t have to play their cheap players against tough opponents.

Fixture ticker

Below we can see the ticker has ordered teams in order of fixture difficulty. The teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures up until the halfway point in the season (Gameweek 19).

Brentford and Fulham

Brentford had a really impressive 22/23 campaign defensively. With the help of David Raya and the rest of the backline their defence managed to keep 12 clean sheets and finished ninth in the table at the end of the season.

Fulham also had a fairly decent season as a promoted side. Although there was fear over their chances of survival they proved a lot of people wrong and secured a 10th place finish, just under Brentford. They also kept a solid nine clean sheets in the process.

As we can see from the graphic below, managers have the chance to rotate either their goalkeepers or defenders whilst also avoiding playing a top six team (of 22/23) in the same period. The only difficult decision managers could have is choosing between the two teams in Gameweek 10 where Brentford face Chelsea and Fulham face Brighton.

Burnley and Fulham

Fulham are involved in another great rotation pair up. We have already seen that Fulham were much stronger defensively than many expected them to be. Burnley recently gained promotion from the Championship.

During their record breaking Championship win Burnley racked up a huge 101 points and lost just three games. More importantly, they also accumulated a whopping 21 clean sheets ranking first in the division.

Rotating Burnley and Fulham assets would mean either side do not face a top six team from last season during the entire run below.

Brighton and Luton

Brighton and Luton could also be an interestingly effective rotation pairing. The former were fantastic in the last campaign finishing sixth in the league and securing Europa League football for the 23/24 season. Whilst achieving those brilliant feats they also collected 12 clean sheets and maintained some of the best underlying defensive stats in the league.

Luton on the other hand gained promotion last season via the Championship play-offs. Although their campaign was arguably less than convincing they still bagged a massive 20 clean sheets. This could be a great indicator that they may be worth defensive investment.

As we can see below, rotating their goalkeepers or defenders means avoiding a top six side until Gameweek 19.
