Best Players for Shots on Target in FPL

Last modified date

Fantasy Premier League has launched ahead of the 24/25 season and there has been plenty of changes to the game. We take a look at one of those many changes today by reeling off the best players for total shots on target in FPL last season.

Shots on target in FPL have always been an indication of how likely a player is of returning in the future. However, with one of the recent changes it’s likely to influence much more that that moving forward. So, let’s dive in!

What has changed?

Bonus points are awarded to players who contribute significantly to their sides overall performance in any given game. How they are awarded is measured by the BPS system.

As we can see pictured above, as well as other bonus point system changes we can see that producing a shot on target will be worth two BPS.

The change means that the chances of player who produces higher shots on target are more likely to pick up bonus points.

Most Shots on Target

Above we can see the top nine players for total shots on target last season.

Producing the most shots on target in FPL last season was of course Erling Haaland with 57. The Norwegian will almost certainly benefit from the bonus points change. However, many within the community are debating whether or not he is worth his huge £15m price-tag.

Mohamed Salah ranks second best for total shots on target with 54. Liverpool face Ipswich, Brentford, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth in their first five fixtures. This suggests he could really benefit from the BPS change.

24/25 player of the season Phil Foden could also be one to consider. The Englishman managed more shots on target than every other player in the league excluding Salah and Haaland with 48. Those backing against Haaland could consider Foden to cover the Manchester City attack.

Ollie Watkins was the highest scoring forward in the game last season after scoring 19 goals and creating 13 assists. Based on this it isn’t a surprise he ranks highly for total shots on target (47). Watkins plays just one tough fixture in his first 10 matches according to the Official Fantasy Premier League fixture difficulty rating system.

One player who many would expect amongst the top five for total shots on target was Darwin Nunez. Nunez has a great set of starting fixtures with his teammate Salah, but many aren’t convinced of his gametime under the new manager.

Amongst the top nine you will also see Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer. Palmer finished 23/24 as the highest scoring player in the game. He is also joined by Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Tottenham midfielder Son Heung-Min who could all benefit from the bonus change.
