Best players for Gameweek 35

We take a look at some of the best players for Gameweek 35 based on their records against their upcoming opponents. Using previous head-to-head records and underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout members area to help us pick out some great FPL picks for the round ahead.

Picking out the best players for Gameweek 35 could be helpful in making both transfer and captaincy decisions. The more information FPL managers have the better our decisions tend to be in terms of having successful assets in our fantasy teams.

Ben Chilwell v Bournemouth

Chelsea have been struggling for some time now and their season dip in form has only deepened since Frank Lampard has taken over. However, they have a good chance to turn that poor form around with a game against Bournemouth this week.

One player who has a strong record against promoted teams is Ben Chilwell (£5.7m). In fact, prior to this season the full-back picked up five returns in his last six matches against them. Chilwell’s returns consist of two goals and five clean sheets.

Harry Kane v Crystal Palace

Tottenham have been on a downward path for a while now in terms of form. One thing that does not stop however, is their ability to score goals. This is largely due to their main man and penalty taker Harry Kane (£11.4m).

Kane has been one of the most consistent assets in the game this season as he sits second for total points. The striker has a good chance to extend his run this week with a game against Crystal Palace. Prior to this season he bagged a return in 11 of his 16 matches against them. He managed eight goals and six assists in the same period.

Son Heung-min

Staying with Tottenham, another one of their players had a successful run against upcoming opponents Crystal Palace. Son Heung-min (£11.5m) has played far from his usual high standard this season but his recent form is promising. The midfielder has collected a return in four of his last five games.

Son’s good run could continue in the round ahead. As we can see in the graphic below he has a very good record against Crystal Palace. In the 12 matches he played against them prior to this season, he bagged a return in seven of them. Amongst his returns were six goals, two assists and three double-digit hauls.

Marcus Rashford v West Ham

Manchester United are amongst a good run of results. The Reds face a struggling West Ham side in the round ahead. The standout option in the Manchester United frontline is Marcus Rashford (£7.2m) who has had a brilliant campaign so far.

Rashford has picked up a return in each of his last four matches. We can also see that he has a great record against West Ham before this season. In the 12 matches he has faced the Hammers he has bagged a return in six of them.

Jamie Vardy v Fulham

It has been a tough season for Leicester as they battle to secure their place in the Premier League. The Foxes may have lost four of their last six matches, but since new manager Dean Smith has taken over, things have improved.

One player who could be considered is Jamie Vardy (£9.1m). The striker has bagged two returns on the bounce but what is even more impressive is his record against promoted teams prior to this season. We can see that in his last 11 matches against them he hit a return in every game. His monstrous return rate in that time consisted of 11 goals, eight assists and six double-digit hauls.
