Best players for Gameweek 3

The new round of Premier League is ahead. With that in mind and with the help of Fantasy Football Scout, we have dug into the data and plucked out some of best player v team stats to reveal the best players for Gameweek 3.

Taking a look back at the head-to-head data to find some of the best players for Gameweek 3 could be really helpful to managers. Picking out assets who have great records against their upcoming opponent can help with transfers, captaincy and even chip strategy.

Ollie Watkins v Burnley

Aston Villa picked up their first win of the season after dismantling Everton 4-0 this week. Amongst the returns was striker Ollie Watkins (£8m) who picked up an assist – making it two returns in two games so far this season.

Watkins faces Burnley in the round ahead and he could have plenty of potential. As we can see below in the seven games he faced newly promoted teams between 2020-2021 the striker bagged five returns. His points consisted of three goals and three assists.

Ben Chilwell v Luton

Chelsea have stumbled through the early stage of the season picking up just one point from four and also without a win. That may be the case but their left-back Ben Chilwell (£5.7m) has been playing in an advanced role. He also had a great pre-season scoring and assisting.

Chilwell has a fantastic fixture ahead against Luton and he has also maintained a solid rate of returns against promoted teams. As we can see, in the six matches Chilwell played against them between 2020-2021 he managed an impressive five returns. His points consisted of two goals and five clean sheets.

Raheem Sterling v Luton

The Chelsea v Luton match is too hard to ignore from an investment point of view. Another player many should look to is Raheem Sterling (£7m). Below we can see his record against newly promoted sides at Manchester City. In the 11 games he played between 2019-2021 he collected a huge nine returns.

Sterling wasn’t just good against promoted sides for Manchester City but his 22/23 campaign record was also good. The Chelsea winger started three games against promoted teams last season and banked 35 points consisting of three goals and two assists.

Phil Foden v Sheffield United

Manchester City will be looking to make it three wins out of three this week. The reigning champions face Sheffield United in the round ahead and one player in particular has a good record against promoted sides recently.

In the four matches Phil Foden (£7.5m) played against a promoted team in 2021 he picked up a return in three of them. Amongst those returns Foden managed two goals and one assist. If that wasn’t enough Foden also collected 30 points in four matches against them last campaign.
