Ollie Watkins v Sheffield United
Aston Villa have been perfect at home this season – winning all of their league matches. They have huge potential this week as they come up against Sheffield United, the worst side in the league defensively. One player who could do well is striker Ollie Watkins (£8.6m).
As we can see below, in 2021 Watkins played six games against promoted sides and bagged a whopping four double-digit returns. His points came from four goals and six assists making it 10 attacking returns and also just one blank in that period.
Callum Wilson v Luton
Newcastle will be hoping to make it two wins on the bounce this week. The Magpies take a trip to Luton in the round ahead, a team who have lost three of their last four matches. The injury to Alexander Isak could mean more gametime for striker Callum Wilson (£7.8m).
As we can see below, between 2020-2021 Wilson picked up a return in four of his five matches against newly promoted sides. Last season Wilson also racked up 17 points against promoted sides due to his three assists and bonus.
Kieran Trippier v Luton
Staying with Newcastle, another player set to benefit from a trip to Luton is Kieran Trippier (£6.9m). Newcastle have managed to keep the joint most clean sheets in the league so far. This shows how strong they can be defensively.
Below is a lit of players who picked up the most points against promoted sides last campaign. As we can see Trippier notched up 32 points against them helped by three clean sheets and one assist.
Mohamed Salah v Arsenal
Liverpool have a huge clash this week with fellow title challengers Arsenal. Liverpool go into the game maintaining some of the best attacking data in the league. With that in mind Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) could have great potential.
We can see that Salah played 11 matches against Arsenal between 2017-2021. In that period he returned at least once in eight of the games. His returns were mainly due to eight goals and four assists.
