Best players against their Gameweek 26 opposition

We take a look at some of the best players against their Gameweek 26 opposition. Using previous head-to-head records and underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout members area to help us pick out some great FPL picks for the round ahead.

Picking out the best players against their Gameweek 26 opposition could be helpful in making both transfer and captaincy decisions. The more information FPL managers have the better our decisions tend to be in terms of having successful assets in our fantasy teams.

Bukayo Saka v Bournemouth

Arsenal have had a fantastic campaign so far this season. They face promoted team Bournemouth in Gameweek 26. One of Arsenal’s in-form players is Bukayo Saka (£8.5m). At the time of writing Saka has picked up nine goals and eight assists already in the league.

Saka has been brilliant and he will be looking to extend his form against the Cherries. As we can see in the graphic below, prior to this season Saka picked up six returns in his 10 matches against promoted teams. In fact, what is even more appealing is that he’s secured three consecutive double-digit hauls in his last three matches.

Ollie Watkins v Crystal Palace

Aston Villa may be stringing together a run of inconsistent results but their scoring plenty of goals. In fact, they have netted two or more goals in four of their last six matches. One of the biggest reasons for that is Ollie Watkins (£7.3m).

Prior to this season, Watkins has banked three returns in his four matches against Crystal Palace, who he faces in the next round. After five back-to-back returns in a row in the Premier League and great fixtures ahead, Watkins could become one of the most appealing assets in the game looking ahead.

Mason Mount v Leeds

It has been a tough season for Chelsea so far after sacking their former manager. Graham Potter is struggling to put his trust in a starting 11 which means there has been plenty of rotation. One player who has suffered from that same rotation is Mason Mount (£7.2m).

The English midfielder has failed to make a consistent impact this season. That can be seen in the fact he has picked up just five returns all season. However, if he starts against Leeds he could have some success. Mount has returned in all but one game against Leeds prior to this season, including a double-digit haul in his most recent match.

James Maddison v Southampton

Leicester have had a torrid season so far but their Gameweek 26 opponent sit rock bottom in the league. The Foxes will be hoping for the three points and with the potential return of their star man, James Maddison (£8.1m) they have a great chance of doing exactly that.

As we can see below, Maddison has a great record against the Saints. In the eight matches he played against Southampton prior to this season, Maddison returned in four of them. Two of his returns came in the last two matches against his Gameweek 26 opponent.

Kevin De Bruyne v Newcastle

Manchester City have a huge game against Newcastle in Gameweek 26. The league chasers face the best defence in the league so far so they will be looking to Kevin De Bruyne’s (£12.3m) creativity to break their opponent’s down.

The Belgian midfielder had a great start to his season but his consistency has dipped as of late. However, in his 10 matches prior to this season against Newcastle, De Bruyne has bagged six returns including two double-digit hauls.
