Best picks from Wolves for Double Gameweek 26

Double Gameweeks can make or break an FPL manager’s season. Get the picks right and a huge green arrow follows, get it wrong and it can really harm your overall rank. So who are the best picks for Double Gameweek 26?

Wolves had a mixed start to the Premier League season under Bruno Lage. In their last nine fixtures in all competitions Wolves have won six, drawn one and lost just two. These include picking up points against Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United.

In Double Gameweek 26 Wolves face Leicester and Arsenal.

Underlying Stats

Since Gameweek 12 Wolves have had one of the best defences in the Premier League.

They are tied second best for clean sheets with seven in the 12 matches. They also have the best goals conceded record in the division in the same period having only conceded five goals.

Wolves’ defence also offers some of the best value for money in the Premier League. Roman Saiss is the most expensive member of the Wolves’ defence costing £5.0m in FPL. Nelson Semedo (£4.8m), Conor Coady (£4.7m), Max Kilman (£4.5m) and Rayan Ain Nouri (£4.4m) all offer an even cheaper route into the solid Wolves defence.

Whilst Wolves defence have been a huge talking point for the FPL community, their attack has overlooked by many.

Wolves have scored eight goals since Gameweek 21. This is just three less than Liverpool and is more than the likes of Aston Villa, Spurs, Leicester and Chelsea. Raul Jimenez (£7.4m) is Wolves’ top scorer this season with five goals. This is perhaps why investing in the Wolves attack has been difficult as the goals have been spread across the team.

With Hwang Hee-Chan (£5.4m) returning from injury in Gameweek 25 there is now increased opportunity to invest in the Wolves frontline. Both Jimenez and Hwang could offer managers the opportunity to pick a Double Gameweek forward at a time where many forwards are lacking form. At just 5% ownership for Jimenez and 2.5% ownership for Hwang they are both excellent differentials.

Hwang and Jimenez will face a tough test against the Arsenal defence. However their other opponents Leicester have kept just one clean sheet in the last six matches. Leicester have also conceded 14 goals in the same period. Indeed Leicester have conceded 41 goals so far this season. Only four teams have conceded more than the Foxes, making Hwang and Jimenez attractive differentials for the Double Gameweek.

Ownership

As mentioned Wolves players are huge FPL differentials. Coady is the only player owned by over 10% of the game. Even Coady though is still a relative differential. At 12.1% he is the tenth most popular defender to own in the game.

Whilst Wolves players are differentials in the game overall, within the top 10k their effective ownership is tiny. Jose Sa is the most popular pick in the top ten thousand managers, however his effective ownership is just 1.13%.

When managers double up on Wolves assets they become even more differential. When Coady and Jimenez are combined in an FPL team they are owned by just 0.045 of managers. That equates to just 4 managers in the top 10k.

Owning two Wolves assets ahead of Double Gameweek 26 could therefore be a fantastic way to gain overall rank if managers invest wisely.
