Best picks from Spurs for Double Gameweek 29

Spurs play twice in Double Gameweek 29. With nine goals scored in their last two Premier League matches and no goals conceded Spurs are finding form. We take a look at their underlying stats and investigate the ownership percentages for the Tottenham players. Ahead of matches against Manchester United and Brighton we assess the best investment options from the Lily Whites.

Tottenham really impressed in their Gameweek 28 match against Everton. FPL managers found themselves asking not should we invest in Spurs, but how many and can I afford to own three. With two matches in Double Gameweek 29 as well as a fixture in Blank Gameweek 30, Spurs offer a great option to FPL managers.

Underlying Stats

The attack

The underlying stats across the Spurs attacking assets make them highly investable. Ahead of the tie with Everton we compared Son and Kane to assess which is the best FPL pick. In the aftermath of the game Harry Kane (£12.3m) has strengthened his appeal with a 13 point haul from his two goals and all three bonus points.

Many FPL managers would have been struggling to find the budget to invest in both Son and Kane. Therefore they were likely to have to chose between the Premier League’s most deadly strike partnership.

However, Dejan Kulusevski (£6.1m) has offered managers an unexpected route in to the midfield. Before his arrival at Spurs in January FPL managers would have been looking at rotation-prone assets such as Lucas Moura (£6.2m) or Steven Bergwijn (£5.9m).

Kulusevski made his first Premier League start win Gameweek 25. In the four matches since his introduction to the starting XI in the Premier League he has returned two double-digit hauls and an eight pointer.

No Premier League midfielder has returned more assists or clean sheets than Kulusevski in the last four Gameweeks.

The defence

The Spurs defence is also starting to look investable ahead of Double Gameweek 29. Matt Doherty (£4.7m) had been out of favour at Spurs for most of the season and was rumoured with a move away from the club in January. However, in the last two Gameweeks the wing back has returned 32 FPL points. His two clean sheets, three assists, one goal and five bonus points have made him an attractive option.

Doherty will have to compete with Emerson Royale for a space in the starting XI, however Conte would be hard pushed to drop the Irishman in his current form. Eric Dier (£4.6m) or Cuti Romero (£4.8m) are the safest route into the Spurs defence. Romero has had three goal attempts in the last four Gameweeks, the same as Doherty, however he has played 412 minutes in comparison to 269 for Doherty.

On the other side of the defence FPL managers should wait for news on the muscular injury Ryan Sessegnon picked up in Gameweek 28 before deciding between him and Sergio Regulion (£5.2m). If Sessegnon is out for the next couple of Gameweeks then Reguilon could be a good option.

Reguilon has had 15 goal attempts this season, more than any other Spurs defender.

Ownership ahead of Double Gameweek 29

FPL investment in the Tottenham assets has grown since their victories over Leeds and Everton. However, many of the key Spurs assets are still great differentials.

Son is currently the most popular asset at Spurs. However, with 116,118 transfers in for Kulusevski and 98624 for Kane by 4pm on Tuesday, their popularity is growing.

At just 3.4% own Kulusevski is a great differential and is likely to still be by the Gameweek 29 deadline. For FPL managers wanting to double up their investment with Spurs adding Kulusevski to Son or Kane looks a perfect option.

In the top 10k Son remains the most highly owned FPL asset however it is much closer.

However, the defenders remain excellent differentials.
