Best picks from Newcastle for Double Gameweek 29

Newcastle play twice in Double Gameweek 29. We take a look at their underlying stats and investigate the ownership percentages for the Newcastle players. Ahead of matches against Chelsea and Everton we assess the best investment options from the Magpie’s.

Newcastle assets were on the radar of FPL managers ahead of Gameweek 28 for their back-to-back Double Gameweeks. After their convincing performance against Brighton in their first match of Gameweek 28 Newcastle have increased their appeal for FPL managers. Ryan Fraser has over 28,000 new managers so far on the back of his goal and assist last time out. However, he isn’t the only Magpie that FPL managers could consider.

Underlying Stats

Newcastle have not lost a game in the Premier League this calendar year and have won five of their last six matches. They have kept three clean sheets in the same period, however the injury to Kieran Trippier has put pay to many managers desires to invest in the defence.

After the first ten fixtures of Gameweek 29 Newcastle’s Jacob Murphy is sixth for XG underachievers. This means that he should have returned FPL points for his owners.

Newcastle have scored 30 goals so far this season, ten of these coming in the last five Gameweeks. Injured Callum Wilson remains the Magpie’s top scorer this season, however he is closely followed by Saint-Maximin who returned from injury in Gameweek 28. Saint-Maximin is top across the Newcastle team for attacking returns this season with 10.

Many FPL managers may be looking towards the Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka ahead of Double Gameweek 29. This is especially true for managers playing their Bench Boost chip in the upcoming Double Gameweek and therefore want another doubling goalkeeper alongside popular Aaron Ramsdale. Dubravka has made 14 appearances so far this season and has made 39 saves.

Newcastle also have the fifth best expected goals conceded total in the Premier League in the last six Gameweeks. Only Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool have been expected to conceded fewer goals than Newcastle in that period. This makes Dubravka and the defence an interesting option for FPL managers.

Ownership for Double Gameweek

As discussed in our Double Gameweek 28 article on Newcastle only one of Newcastle’s assets is owned by over 10% of the game. This gives Newcastle assets excellent potential as differentials in the game.

However, within the top 10k there are two Newcastle assets owned by more than 10% of the game. Goalkeeper Dubravka is currently owned by 33.51% of the top 10k of FPL managers, with Joe Willock owned by 16.5% of managers.

There are currently 851 managers in the top 10k who own both Dubravka and Willock.

Only 51 managers in the top 10k own Dubravka and Saint-Maximin half way through Gameweek 28.
