In this article we pick out the best midfielders in EURO 2024 Fantasy. Get ready for the new campaign as we take a look through the fixtures, player and team form, underlying data and more to decide which midfielders we should buy in the Group Stage.
Highlighting the best midfielders in EURO 2024 Fantasy could be hugely beneficial when it comes to making a first draft. Whilst many have different chip strategies, knowing who the best defenders to buy can help plan and get ahead of your mini-league rivals early on.
Kevin De Bruyne
Belgium were excellent during EURO Qualifying. Whilst topping the Group ahead of Austria Belgium also produced a massive 22 goals, averaging a cool 2.8 goals per game.
Our EURO Fantasy difficulty ticker shows that Belgium have three green (easy) fixtures against Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine, all of whom could be considered good teams to target.
With the above in mind we look to the Belgium attack. Maestro Kevin De Bruyne (€9.5m) was injured for most of his domestic season with Manchester City. That may have been the case but in the 15 league games he did feature he scored four goals and produced a huge 10 assists.
De Bruyne was also mostly absent from the EURO Qualifiers. But in the Qualifying campaign before that he showed how effective he can be, scoring four goals and bagging six assists in just six matches. He was also effective in his recent Nations League after scoring two goals and creating one assist in his five games.
Bruno Fernandes
Portugal’ perfect EURO Qualifying Group is something we won’t see very often in our life time. As well as topping their Group Portugal won each and every one of their 10 matches, whilst also scoring a mammoth 36 goals in the meantime.
3.6 goals per game is an average we should be buying into as EURO Fantasy managers, especially with three good fixtures ahead against Türkiye, Georgia and Czechia.
The best way to buy into the above is via Bruno Fernandes (€9m). Many questioned his overall performance for Manchester United last season but eventually silenced his critics with 10 goals and eight assists in just 35 matches.
Fernandes has been hugely influential for Portugal over recent years. During his most recent World Cup he impressed with two goals an three assists in just four matches. Fernandes continued that excellent output in EURO Qualifying with a huge six goals and seven assists in 10 matches.
Bruno has a mixture of both assist and goal threat potential and combined with his fixtures and set piece taking, he could well be the best midfielder to buy in the entire game.
Bukayo Saka
England are also one to watch amongst the favourites. A tricky fixture against Denmark shouldn’t be enough to put anyone off attacking the matches against Slovenia and Serbia. After all, England averaged 2.8 goals scored per game during their Qualifiers.
Question marks riddle the English midfield. What position will Jude Bellingham play? Will Phil Foden play in his favoured number 10 role? The fact is we just don’t know, but what we do know is that Bukayo Saka (€8.5m) will play in his favoured position and we do know that Saka can excel in an England shirt. In fact, four goals and two assists in seven Qualifiers reinforces that.
Christian Eriksen
Denmark are another great option to consider after their Qualifiers. They finished their Group in first place after winning seven of their matches and averaging 1.9 goals per game. Unlike other Nations, Denmark have also impressed in their recent friendlies, winning their last three and scoring between 2-3 goals in each of them.
Christian Eriksen (€7m) had a disappointing season for club side Manchester United. But, Eriksen is very much an ‘international player’. During the Qualifiers Eriksen produced one goal and three assists in six matches. The stats also back him as amongst midfielders he sits fourth best for big chances created and fifth best for chances created.
Eriksen also has corners, free-kicks and even penalties at his disposal, giving him even more potential and making him a shoo-in amongst the best midfielders in EURO 2024 Fantasy.
Dominik Szoboszlai
Hungary have seemingly burst onto the international scene over recent years. After a Nations League campaign which saw them edge Germany and England in the Group and their recent first place finish in their EURO Qualifying Group, Hungary appear to be a team we should all take seriously.
With two goals scored in seven of their last 10 matches, Hungary have attacking form going into a Group with Germany, Scotland and Switzerland. With that, Dominik Szoboszlai (€7m) is a serious consideration. Szoboszlai amassed a huge four goals and three assists in eight Qualifying matches so has recent form at his side.
A lot of Szoboszlai’ appeal comes from his talismanic role. As well as having goal threat and creativity he also takes his sides corners, free kicks and penalties, giving him huge overall potential going into any given game.
