Best Midfielders for FPL 2025-26

In this guide to the best midfielders for FPL 2025/26, we break down the top options based on fixtures, form, and underlying stats so you can build a midfield capable of delivering from Gameweek 1.

Midfielders are the heartbeat of any Fantasy Premier League squad, driving points through goals, assists, bonus, and set pieces. Picking the right ones can transform your season.

Mohamed Salah

The best midfielder in the game could be Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) again. The Egyptian penalty taker amassed a record-breaking 300+ points in FPL last campaign due to a huge 29 goals and 18 assists.

Liverpool maintained some of the best underlying attacking metrics in the league last season, so they could well be strong again this time around. We also have to factor in how much the addition of Florian Wirtz could improve both Liverpool and Salah’ output.

Cole Palmer

Best Midfielders for FPL 2025-26

Chelsea are another side who sustained good attacking attacking throughout their 2024-25 campaign. The Blues ranked among the top three sides for metrics like total shots on goal and total big chances, which is a clear display of how good they can be.

Their main man is of course Cole Palmer (£10.5m) who managed another season tally of 200+ points after achieving it in the campaign prior. The English penalty taker displayed his talent in his the recent Club World Cup final against PSG – where he scored twice and registered an assist to help his side become world champions.

Bruno Fernandes

The introduction of DEFCON’s (defensive contributions points) marks is a significant change, and one that could have a huge effect on the appeal of players. This is the case for Manchester United penalty taker Bruno Fernandes (£9m).

As well as producing a cool 359 DEFCON’s last season, and being the designated penalty taker for his sides, Fernandes can also offer multiple routes to points via goal contributions – as shown in his eight goals and 10 assists from the previous campaign. New additions in attack could also boost his output.

Bukayo Saka

Best Midfielders for FPL 2025-26

Arsenal enjoyed another great campaign last time out – finishing second ahead of the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea. After plenty of investment during the summer, it’s safe to say many within the football community are expecting another good season from them.

We are unsure yet as to whether new signing and European heavy weight Viktor Gyokeres will help or hinder part-time penalty taker Bukayo Saka’ (£10m) output, but he has enough consistency to succeed yet again.

Florian Wirtz

Best Midfielders for FPL 2025-26

Heading back to Liverpool, Arne Slot and his side were offensively the best in the league – ranking top for total goals scored, shots in the box, shots on target and big chances. Because of this, having more coverage of the attack coverage outside of Mohamed Salah could be crucial.

Another route into the strong Liverpool attack is new singing Florian Wirtz (£8.5m). The German has been consistently excellent for some years now, and heads into the upcoming season with his new Liverpool side after racking up 10 goals and 12 assists in the Bundesliga last season. He also scored and assisted during pre-season, which suggests he has settled in well so far.

More Great Midfield Options

  • Morgan Rogers (£7m – Aston Villa)
  • Antoine Semenyo (£7m -Bournemouth)
  • Eberechi Eze (£7.5m – Crystal Palace)
