Best Goalkeepers in EURO 2024 Fantasy

With the tournament days away from kick-off, it’s time to look at the best goalkeepers of EURO 2024 Fantasy.

Highlighting these could prove hugely beneficial when it’s time to settle on a Matchday 1 squad. It can help managers get an early lead on mini-league rivals and shoot up the general rankings.

DIOGO COSTA (PORTUGAL, €5.0m)

No team conceded fewer goals (two) or big chances (four) in qualifying, as Portugal ruthlessly won all 10 matches. And with such quality depth throughout the squad, Roberto Martinez’s outfit are amongst this summer’s favourites.

Porto stopper Costa has quality defenders like Ruben Dias (€6.0m) and Goncalo Inacio (€4.5m) in front of him, whilst they’ve been given an appealing draw alongside Czechia, Georgia and Turkey. Furthermore, it’s the final group, meaning Costa might not be needed, depending on how your other keeper did.

Another thing to consider is that Portugal have conceded twice in all four friendlies since qualifying.

JORDAN PICKFORD (ENGLAND, €5.0m)

Currently the most-selected Euro 2024 Fantasy goalkeeper, Pickford is England’s undisputed number one.

He started all eight matches en route to Germany, as the Three Lions conceded fewer attempts (39) and shots on target (nine) than all other nations.

However, as well-backed as they are, England’s backline feels like a major weakness right now. Harry Maguire misses out through injury and Luke Shaw (€5.0m) is in a race to become fit, which might awkwardly force Kieran Trippier (€6.0m) into left-back. Friday’s shock home defeat to Iceland was a reality check.

MIKE MAIGNAN (FRANCE, €5.5m)

Whereas other favourites France have a very strong defence, as they aim to reach a fourth final from the last five major tournaments.

As well as facing the Netherlands in Group D, Les Bleus are against an Austria side that’s recently beaten Germany 2-0 and Turkey 6-1. It’s certainly not a guaranteed clean sheet.

Therefore we may see some of the expensive Maignan’s large 17% ownership slowly migrate to attacking left-back Theo Hernandez (€5.5m) or cheaper Jules Kounde (€5.0m).

KOEN CASTEELS (BELGIUM, €5.0m)

Hopes of having a bargain Belgium goalkeeper were dashed when head coach Domenico Tedesco confirmed that it’d be Casteels between the sticks and not Matz Sels (€4.0m).

Still, judged outside of this bubble, he remains one of the best goalkeepers for Euro 2024 Fantasy managers. In between generations, the Belgians were still able to comfortably qualify whilst only conceding four goals and have a nice group with Romania, Ukraine and Slovakia.

Then again, Casteels might be overshadowed in popularity by €4.0m centre-back colleague Wout Faes.

HORATIU MOLDOVAN (ROMANIA, €4.0m)

Finally, sticking with Group E, an option from the lowest possible price. Compared to the €4.0m starters of Albania and the Czech Republic, form and fixture look more attractive for Romania.

They were resolute in an undefeated qualifying campaign, where only Portugal bettered their six clean sheets. Moldovan played all but the first two of these, earning a January move to Atletico Madrid.

Although this national side hasn’t won any of their four latest friendlies, the latest couple were 0-0.
