Best goalkeepers for the next five FPL Gameweeks
As the November international break allows FPL managers to relax, unwind and – eventually – plan for the future, here is a collection of the best goalkeepers between Gameweeks 13 and 17.
BEST FPL GOALKEEPERS
Sam Johnstone (£4.6m)
The second-best goalkeeper so far with 50 points, Johnstone plays for one of three defences that have kept five clean sheets. In fact, Crystal Palace have conceded the fourth-fewest shots on target (44).
With Dean Henderson out for a long period with a thigh injury, Johnstone will have his place secured over the upcoming weeks. Within the next three, they have attractive fixtures against Luton (a) and Bournemouth (h).
Bernd Leno (£4.7m)
Meanwhile, Fulham soon host Wolves and Nottingham Forest, giving owners hope of adding to Leno’s three clean sheets. He sits behind Johnstone in third place thanks to these, plus eight bonuses and many points accrued from making the second-most saves (47).
This is because Fulham’s defence is allowing plenty of shots on target. The joint-fourth-most overall (65).
Jordan Pickford (£4.4m)
Over one million FPL managers were left fuming at Pickford’s inability to pick up points during Everton’s generous early schedule.
However, once the first clean sheet arrived in Gameweek 8, another one soon followed. If it wasn’t for a late own goal versus Brighton in Gameweek 11, it would’ve been three shut-outs from four for the Toffees.
Generally better in recent times, Everton have actually conceded the third-fewest shots on target (43). This is better than the likes of Newcastle and Liverpool.
Jose Sa (£5.0m)
Picking out the Wolves stopper is based purely on fixtures, as they face Fulham (a), Burnley (h) and Nottingham Forest (h) during the next four.
Sa’s tiny 1.5% ownership reflects his overpricing upon game launch, as his sole clean sheet arrived at Everton in Gameweek 3.
Alphonse Areola (£4.3m)
Finally, a reluctant pick of the most-picked goalkeeper by far. There are very few appealing stoppers but playing Areola has been a bad experience, as he’s failed to keep clean sheets at home to the likes of Everton and Nottingham Forest.
West Ham have allowed the third-most shots (200) over the campaign, allowing Areola to rank second for save points (12) but also resulting in 12 goals to go past him during the most recent five outings.
Yet the Hammers soon go against Burnley (a), Crystal Palace (h), Fulham (a) and Wolves (h).
