Best FPL Gameweek 33 Free Hit Team

Discover the best FPL Gameweek 33 Free Hit Team right here, as those activating it may need clarity on who to pick.

One of several chips provided by the game, the Free Hit is an extremely useful weapon. It’s an opportunity to select a squad for one Gameweek only, before returning to your original, regular team.

We take you through the fixtures to help pick out the best starting XI for the new round ahead. So let’s dive in.

Fixtures

Below is the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker for Gameweek 33.

Who has the best fixtures?

While it’s not quite the big Double Gameweek previously anticipated, four teams are still playing twice – Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Man City.

Should also shout out to the strong single fixtures of West Ham and Liverpool, versus the bottom two.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Leicester finally scored and gained a point on Saturday but it’ll be tough to build upon that when hosting champions-elect Liverpool.

Ipswich, Fulham and Everton assets will be facing Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City, plus those who’ve tripled up on Newcastle must cope with a sole trip to Aston Villa.

Best Gameweek 33 Free Hit

Using the PlanFPL website and its fantastic tools, here is the best Gameweek 33 Free Hit team:

Goalkeepers

Free Hits allow the safety of a goalkeeping double-up, even though Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) looks to be West Ham’s firm number one under Graham Potter. They didn’t concede against Southampton last time. But Lukasz Fabianski‘s (£4.0m) head injury forced a substitution and neither claimed a clean sheet.

Defenders

In front of them, it’s incredibly tough to pick three from four. William Saliba (£6.5m) is the most secure because Arsenal have conceded the fewest goals (27), shots (299) and big chances (43) so far.

At fellow doublers Crystal Palace, Daniel Munoz‘s (£5.3m) selection is more about his attacking mind than clean sheet potential. No defender has racked up more shots on target (12) but Josko Gvardiol (£6.2m) is still ahead for big chances (10) and penalty area touches (88).

Yet he’s only on 0.81 expected goal involvement (xGI) over his last nine. And it’s hard to trust Man City’s backline versus Everton and Aston Villa. Perhaps it’s better to play Conor Bradley (£4.7m) against Leicester – before Saturday, the Foxes had only scored in 3 of their previous 16 matches.

Midfielders

As Gameweek 32 Bench Boost managers discovered, it’s about the quality of fixture and not just quantity. The single Gameweeks of Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) and Jarrod Bowen (£7.5m) remain hard to resist.

Captaincy goes to Bukayo Saka (£10.5m), though there’s a slight risk that his minutes will still be managed post-Madrid. However, he takes penalties, scores plenty and is still the third-best for big chances created (19) despite missing months of action.

Returns are coming in for Eberechi Eze (£6.9m). This season’s biggest expected goals (xG) underachiever finally scored on Saturday, now having two opportunities to maintain such momentum.

Another big lesson from the weekend is that Morgan Rogers (£5.6m) just won’t ever be rested in any circumstance. The Aston Villa attacker has two goals and three assists from his last five outings.

Forwards

Up front, this starting XI opts for 3-5-2 and being without Alexander Isak (£9.5m). He’s always a threat for Newcastle but this week’s essentialness is low when you see he’s scored none of their last eight goals.

Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.8m) was removed at half-time in the early kick-off because Oliver Glasner thought “he lost too many duels, he lost too many balls.” Hopefully he’s earned enough credit to keep starting, considering his previous 10 had brought nine goals.

Completing the lineup is Omar Marmoush (£7.6m), another good captaincy option. He helped Man City overturn Palace’s 2-0 lead and is on six goals from seven starts.

Substitute Yoane Wissa (£6.5m) is already on 14 strikes, about to host Brighton.
