Best FPL Gameweek 31 Free Hit Team

Discover the best FPL Gameweek 31 Free Hit Team right here! Those using it this week may need clarity on who to pick, and this is the right place.

One of several chips provided by the game, the Free Hit is an extremely useful weapon. It’s an opportunity to select a squad for one Gameweek only, before returning to your original, regular team.

We take you through the fixtures to help pick out the best starting XI for the new round ahead. So let’s dive in.

Fixtures

Below is the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker for Gameweek 31.

Who has the best fixtures?

At home to Southampton, the ticker says that Tottenham have it best, though we’ve seen recently that they’re prioritising the Europa League.

Wolves are seeking a third successive league win that’d put them on 32 points, but opponents Ipswich know this clash is likely their final chance to reach 17th-place survival.

Elsewhere, the many Wildcard users of Gameweeks 30 and 31 will have pinpointed Newcastle’s trip to Leicester.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Fulham played ok in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Arsenal but they host Liverpool next. It’s also tricky for Everton, who have to welcome the Gunners for the early kick-off.

Goalkeepers

Constant rotation makes it hard to guess which Spurs full-backs will play, so let’s pick the combination of Guglielmo Vicario (£4.8m) and Antonin Kinsky (£4.2m). One of them should start and secure a clean sheet – not that Ange Postecoglou’s outfit is known for them.

Defenders

Sticking with north London, William Saliba (£6.3m) gets the Arsenal nod because of Gabriel’s (£6.4m) hamstring setback. They were on the verge of a fifth clean sheet in eight matches until Fulham’s stoppage time consolation.

The Erling Haaland (£14.8m) injury and lack of Cole Palmer (£10.7m) or Bukayo Saka (£10.3m) here means there’s plenty of money to spend, so let’s make a luxury splash on Kieran Trippier (£5.6m). He’s without any attacking return in 2024/25, but the set-piece taker registered 19 assists over the previous two Newcastle seasons.

Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.8m) is deemed to be an attacking wing-back, despite being goalless with just three assists in his last 20. He annoyed 1.7 million FPL owners with a red card in the previous Ipswich meeting but can make amends this time.

His cheap colleague Emmanuel Agbadou (£4.0m) makes the bench, next to Josko Gvardiol (£6.1m).

Midfielders

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) will always be in midfield because he’s having the most extraordinary season.

Back to Newcastle, Anthony Gordon‘s (£7.4m) suspension will be over and he’s a huge differential, though an international knock could rule him out. If so, choose Harvey Barnes (£5.9m) versus his former club instead.

Ismaila Sarr (£5.7m) beats his Crystal Palace team-mate Eberechi Eze (£6.8m) for overall shots on target, big chances and expected goals (xG). Furthermore, he bagged two goals and an assist against Brighton in December.

Then, it’s whichever Spurs attacking midfielder sounds likeliest to start, ahead of their Frankfurt clash. Let’s say Brennan Johnson (£6.2m).

Waiting in the wings is Jarrod Bowen (£7.6m), at home to Bournemouth.

Forwards

Up front, Alexander Isak (£9.4m) is establishing himself as one of the world’s best strikers. The Magpies beat Leicester 4-0 last time and it might be a good moment to take the calculated risk of captaining him over Salah.

Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen (£5.3m) boasts both good form and a strong fixture. He’s scored three in his previous two outings, while Ipswich are one of two sides to have conceded over 100 big chances.

Picking a third forward is hard, but Omar Marmoush (£7.5m) can shine in Haaland’s absence.
