Best Double Gameweek players
Gameweek 2 saw the fixture between Luton and Burnley postponed because Kenilworth Road was not ready. Gameweek 7 see’s the fixture slot in as part of a Double Gameweek for the two clubs. Luton face Everton (a) and Burnley (h). Burnley have two away fixtures against Newcastle and Luton. Here we look at the best double gameweek players for Gameweek 7.
Two of the three newly promoted clubs both have a double gameweek in Gameweek 7. Both clubs are still looking for their first wins of the season. When their are double gameweeks scheduled in fantasy football, FPL managers immediately consider who are the best double gameweek players to invest in.
This double gameweek has left many managers torn. Luton and Burnley are in difficult form and are not the sort of players that managers will want to invest in long term. This means that any investment for the double gameweek will likely only be for the double gameweek. Therefore managers should consider if it is worth bringing their assets in.
One of Burnley’s fixtures is away at Newcastle. With Newcastle having just beaten Sheffield United 8-0, if managers invest in Burnley it is effectively for the fixture against Luton. This is because managers will not be expecting Burnley assets to return well against Newcastle in the first of the fixtures. Lyle Foster (£5.0m) was likely to be the best pick from Burnley, however he is suspended after a red card in Gameweek 5.
Here are the three player we think are the best double gameweek players for Gameweek 7.
Carlton Morris (£5.5m)
Morris has scored two penalties so far this season, including one against Wolves in Gameweek 6 which earned Luton their first Premier League point of the season. Morris picked up nine points in that fixture as a result of the goal and all three bonus points.
Neither of Luton’s Gameweek 7 opponents, Everton and Burnley, have kept a clean sheet so far this season.
Indeed Burnley’s 13 goals conceded is second worst in the league. Only Sheffield United have conceded more with 17 however eight of those came against Newcastle last weekend. Everton have also conceded 10 goals this season which only five teams have conceded more than. This bodes well for Morris and his potential to score goals against two shaky defences.
Whilst Morris hasn’t been prolific so far this season he has more attacking returns than any other Luton player. With penalty responsibility he has a good route to points and therefore is likely the best pick of all the double gameweek assets.
Issa Kabore (£4.0m)
Investing in the defensive players from these two clubs on paper seems difficult, especially as neither have yet kept a clean sheet. However, Burnley and Everton have two of the lowest goal conversion rates in the Premier League and therefore there is some potential here.
Kabore’s four attempts on goal this season is also the most across the Luton defenders. He has also created four chances for his team-mates and supplied 15 crosses. He has also registered an assist this season. His pass was responsible for the awarding of the Luton penalty in Gameweek 6.
Zeki Amdouni (£5.4m)
If managers do want to invest in Burnley then, in the absence of Foster, Amdouni could be the best option. The forward has registered 15 points so far this season, and is Burnley’s second highest scoring behind the suspended Foster.
Amdouni has had nine attempts on goal this season, this is a team leading total.
Behind Foster he is also top for expected goals (xG) and expected goal involvement (xGI) at Burnley.
