Best differentials for FPL Gameweek 3

The Premier League season continues which means the fantasy season does too. With that in mind, we provide the best differentials for FPL Gameweek 3 with the help of the Fantasy Football Scout fixture ticker and underlying stats.

Looking at the best differentials for FPL Gameweek 3 can be really useful for fantasy managers. Differentials are lowly owned players (less than 10% owned) that can help towards gaining rank and an edge over your competition.

Fixtures

Below we can see that the ticker orders teams in fixture difficulty order – the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest.

Julian Alvarez – 8%

Manchester sit in the top four teams on the fixture ticker. They face Sheffield United next who have lost both of their first two games. The Blades have also conceded some poor defensive data. In fact, when compared to all teams so far they rank second worst for set play attempts (14), the worst for headed attempts conceded (12) and sit amongst the worst three teams for shots in the box conceded (26) and shots on target conceded.

With the above in mind and the fact that Manchester City have the best attack in the league, it could be a must in terms of investment. Whilst many look to Phil Foden, some could look at Julian Alvarez (£6.6m). The Argentinian striker has played in both of his sides first two matches and picked up returns in both. Alvarez also leads the way amongst strikers for expected assists (0.40) so has multiple routes to points.

Josko Gvardiol – 4.5%

The Manchester City Gameweek 3 fixture is too good to ignore from a defensive point of view too. The champions maintained some of the best defensive data in the league last campaign and that same form has continued this season. Amongst all teams so far they rank the best for goals conceded (zero), the best for clean sheets kept (two) and the best for big chances conceded (zero).

Their opponent, Sheffield United have also shown poor offensive appetite. So far they rank the third worst for attempts on goal (15), third worst for shots in the box (eight) and second worst for big chances total (one). Because of that the Manchester City defence is very appealing and new signing and centre-back Josko Gvardiol (£5m) could be one of the safest way into the backline.

Richarlison – 4%

Tottenham are another side who have started the season well – They drew against a tough Brentford side and managed to sweep Manchester United aside in a 2-0 win. Similar to Brentford Tottenham can’t stop scoring goals either which bodes well for the game against Bournemouth ahead.

Bournemouth have started the campaign questionably and conceded some of the worst defensive data in the league last season. That same form has continued into this season as they rank joint second worst for shots in the box conceded (29) and the worst for total attempts conceded (42). One player who could take advantage of the Cherries’ defence is Richarlison. Although the Brazilian has had a quiet start to the season he is the focal point to an in-form attack so it may be just a matter of time before he starts to flourish as an asset.

Solly March – 9%

Brighton are one of few teams that have secured six points in their first two matches. They have impressed hugely offensively and that can be seen in their early data. In fact amongst all teams they rank first for goals scored (eight), first for attempts on goal (43), first for shots in the box (31) and first for big chances total (11).

They may face West Ham next but they have the form to net against any side. Other than the obvious Kaoru Mitoma, Solly March (£6.6m) could be a other fantastic option. March has accumulated a huge 24 points already. He also ranks amongst the best five midfielders for non-penalty expected goal involvement (1.44).
