Best Captains for UCL Fantasy Matchday 2 (2025/26) | Top Captain Picks

Choosing the best captains for UCL Fantasy Matchday 2 is one of the most important calls of the week. With the season underway, a strong captaincy pick can give you the perfect start and set the tone for your campaign.

In this article, we’ll run through the standout options for Matchday 2, from the reliable favourites to the riskier differentials that could give you an edge.

It could be really difficult to look past Real Madrid for captaincy on the opening night. Real Madrid play away to Champions League newcomers Kairat in the early kick-off. The Kazakhstan based side conceded four goals in Matchday 1, which doesn’t bode well with the upcoming opposition.

Los Blancos have won every single one of their matches in all competitions, so head into the clash in top form. Contributing to that success was penalty taker Kylian Mbappe (€10.5m). The Frenchman appears to have found his stride for Real Madrid early on – hitting nine goals and one assist in just seven matches.

Picking between Mbappe and Harry Kane (€10.5m) could prove frustrating for UCL Fantasy managers. Whilst the Spanish giants have been exceptional, so have Bayern – who have netted at least three goals in six of their last seven matches.

A meeting against Pafos away from home screams attacking potential for the Bavarians, and their standout attacker is of course Kane. Kane has also had a fantastic start to the season – bettering Mbappe’ total with 13 goals and three assists.

For those brave enough to back against both Mbappe and Kane, there are several good alternatives. Among those players include Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Salah (€10.5m) versus a leaky Galatasaray, and Inter forward Marcus Thuram (€8m) up against Slavia Praha.

The field is slightly more open on the Wednesday for those who fail to secure a significant return on Tuesday. One of the standout options is of course Manchester City striker and penalty Erling Haaland (€10.5m). Although unconvincing from a results perspective overall, Haaland has been relentless – scoring six goals in his first five Premier League matches.

Arsenal’ home match against Olympiakos could also be appealing for captaincy. A dominant 2-0 win away from home in the first round was a reminder that the Gooners are one of several tournament favourites. Leading that attacking, Viktor Gyokeres (€9m) has netted three goals in his first five domestic matches.

Some could even look to Newcastle for midfielder upside. Newcastle were edged out by Barcelona in Matchday 1, but were arguably the better side. Scoring their only goal in that match was Anthony Gordon (€7m). USG next up appears to be a great opportunity for him to strike in Europe once more.

We also can’t rule out Serhou Guirassy (€8m). The Dortmund man may not be cemented on penalty duty currently, but he has amassed an impressive seven goals and one assist in all competitions this season for club and country. A home match against Athletic Club should hold enough potential for him to add to that tally.
