Gameweek 4 fixtures

Below we can see the fixture ticker – it has ordered the matches in difficulty order. According to the ticker the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures.

The fixture ticker can be very useful when trying to pick out a captain but other factors should also be considered.

Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea may have struggled to score goals last season but that looks to be changing. The Blues have racked up five goals in their first three matches so far. To reinforce Chelsea’ offensive progression they also rank joint third best for big chances total when compared to every other team in the league.

Nottingham Forest lay ahead for Chelsea in Gameweek 4. Although they have found the net in every game played so far Nottingham Forest have also conceded an average of two goals per game. They also rank joint fourth worst in the league for shots on target conceded (19).

Nicolas Jackson (£7.1m) is the focal point to the improving Chelsea attack. After registering two goals and three assists in pre-season he followed it up with a goal against Luton in Gameweek 3. In addition, no other player in the league has had more big chances than Jackson (five). In fact, the only player who has matched him for big chances is Erling Haaland.

Bryan Mbeumo

Brentford have managed five points from a possible nine so far so its been a solid start to the season for the Bees. They may not be rampant in terms of goals but amongst all teams in the division they rank joint fourth for goals (six), joint fourth for big chances total (10) and joint first for attempts from set plays (17).

Bournemouth look like a team to target lately which can be reflected in their stats. In fact, so far the Cherries sit third worst for shots in the box conceded (41), second worst for total attempts conceded (59) and the third worst for attempts from set plays conceded (17).

Brentford’ main man is none other than Bryan Mbeumo (£6.8m). Not only does he take corners and free kicks which is a huge strength of Brentford and weakness of Bournemouth with the stats above but he also takes his sides penalties. In addition, when compared to every other player in the league he also ranks first for expected goals (3.29).

Erling Haaland

Manchester City have started the season as strong as they finished their last. The league leaders have banked three back-to-back wins and the only team to do so. In terms of data their up there – they rank second for attempts on goal (61), joint first for shots in the box (44) and joint second for shots on target (21).

One team worth target at the moment is Fulham. The Cottagers have managed to leak five goals in their first three matches whilst also picking up a red card in both of their last two games. Fulham ranked the worst for big chances conceded last season and that same form has continued this season as they sit the worst for the same data point so far.

Erling Haaland (£14m) was the highest scoring player in the league last campaign and also sits as the highest owned player this season. The Norwegian ranks joint first for big chances total (five), joint first for attempts on goal (16) and the best for shots in the box (16). On top of that he also takes his teams penalties which gives him an additional route to points.

Who is the best captain for Gameweek 4?

Nicolas Jackson is a good option this week but is yet to prove a reliable fantasy asset. In addition, he does not take his sides penalties where-as the other two captaincy options do.

Bryan Mbeumo could also be a fantastic captaincy option but it could be tough to captain him ahead of Erling Haaland. The latter is a proven FPL asset who has shown both consistency and explosiveness in the past along with his team. He is also facing a side who are conceding a lot of big chances and Haaland is thriving in terms of big chances total.
