Gameweek 8 fixtures

Below we can see the fixture ticker – it has ordered the matches in difficulty order. According to the ticker the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures.

The fixture ticker can be very useful when trying to pick out a captain but other factors should also be considered.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City will be hoping to get back to form after their disappointing and surprising loss to Wolves in Gameweek 7. The league leaders still maintain some great offensive stats, for example they sit second for attempts on goal (127), second for shots in the box (85) and joint second for shots on target (51). However, they have slipped down in some areas, for example they sit joint sixth for big chances total (21).

Arsenal lay ahead for Manchester so its a clash of the titans in what could be a huge game towards the title race. Arsenal are maintaining some of the best defensive data in the league in terms of expected goals conceded. However, they have still conceded in six of the 11 matches they have played in all competitions so far.

Erling Haaland (£14.1m) may have failed to score in each of his last two matches in all competitions but he’s still managed eight goals and one assist in just seven league games. Amongst all players he also sits the best for attempts on goal (32), shots in the box (32) and big chances total (15).

Son Heung-min

Tottenham are in great form and there has not been a team to stop them from scoring yet. In terms of offensive stats they rank right up there. When compared to all teams they sit first for attempts on goal (138), first for shots in the box (86), first for shots on target (52).

Luton could be a fantastic fixture for Tottenham. The Hatters have lost five of their first seven matches in the league. They also rank amongst the worst sides for goals conceded, shots in the box conceded and big chances conceded.

Son Heung-min (£9.3m) has been fantastic since moving into a forward position. Since that, in the last four matches he ranks third for attempts on goal (15) and third for big chances total (six). In the same period he also bagged more goals than any other player in the league (six).

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool will have extra motivation after their controversial loss to Tottenham in the most recent round. Excluding that the Reds have been extremely impressive and they have also averaged more than two goals scored per game this season.

Brighton could be seen as a tough match on paper. Although offensively fantastic Brighton are conceding a lot of goals and some concerning defensive data. So far this season Brighton rank joint fourth worst for goals conceded (14) but they also conceded a huge six goals in their latest match.

The most efficient player in the Liverpool attack is Mohamed Salah (£12.6m). Similar to the other options the Egyptian takes his sides penalties which gives him an another route to points. So far this season Salah has failed to return in just one match. Amongst all players in the league he also sits the best for big chances created (nine) and third best for non-penalty expected goal involvement (4.95).

Who is the best captain for Gameweek 8?

Salah is a great option but has shown a major lack of goal threat this season and well as maintaining underlying data below his historical high standard. Son is also a very good option but the fact he has been substituted early on several occasions and the fact there are rumours suggesting he is playing with an injury is a huge concern for his minutes moving forward.

The best captain for Gameweek 8 is Haaland. Not only does he continue to maintain good offensive data but he is sure for minutes, takes penalties and is playing for a side who are more consistent than any other team in the league.
