The player you select as your captain will earn you double points in any given round. Captaincy is one of the biggest contributors to your overall score and rank. Because of this, finding out the best captain for FPL Gameweek 6 could be key.

Gameweek 6 fixtures

Below we can see the fixture ticker – it has ordered the matches in difficulty order. According to the ticker the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures.

The fixture ticker can be very useful when trying to pick out a captain but other factors should also be considered.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City sit at the top of the fixture ticker this week. The league holders are top of the table and they have made a great early start to regaining their title. In fact, so far Manchester City have won all of their first five matches and scored a huge 14 goals.

Nottingham Forest lay ahead for Manchester City this week. Although resilient at the start of their new campaign Nottingham Forest have still managed to concede in all but one of their matches. They have also conceded two or more goals in matches against two competent attacks, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Erling Haaland (£14.1m) has started the season as well as his last – scoring seven goals and registering an assist in just five matches. Amongst all players the penalty taker also sits first for attempts on goal (29), first for shots in the box (29) and first for big chances total (13).

Who is the best captain for Gameweek 6?

As you can see there is just one standout option for the round ahead. Haaland takes his sides penalties, leads a lethal frontline, is maintaining some fantastic underlying data and is in relentless form. However, for those looking to go different there are some great differential options below.

Julian Alvarez

Manchester City are in top form and there is no denying that. When compared to all sides in the league they rank second for goals scored (14), second for total attempts on goal (97), first for shots in the box (69) and first for big chances total (19).

Another player we could look to for those that want to avoid Haaland this week is his teammate and fellow forward Julian Alvarez (£6.9m). The Argentine has managed to return in all but one of his matches so far – including a double-digit return. He also netted twice in his most recent Champions League game.

Other differential captaincy picks

  • Marcus Rashford (£8.9m)- Manchester United may be struggling defensively but their still scoring plenty of goals. One player who seems to have picked up some form is Rashford who since changing position back to left-wing has managed two returns in three games.
  • Bryan Mbeumo (£6.9m) – In the five matches Brentford have played they have netted two or more goals in three. Their standout attacker is Mbeumo who takes his sides penalties and has already managed three returns in his early matches.
