Best Captain for EURO Fantasy Matchday 7
We continue our coverage of the summer tournament by picking out the best captain for EURO Fantasy Matchday 7. Using form, underlying stats and other factors we reel off some of the best captains for the final day.
Figuring out the best captain for EURO Fantasy Matchday 7 could be vital to the overall success of your round. Captaincy has been difficult to nail down this campaign so picking a successful captain is even more important this week.
The Standout Option
Spain have been fantastic so far and unlike England have convinced in every area of the pitch. England may have produced some great defensive numbers during the tournament but Spain dominate nearly each and every one of the underlying attacking metrics.
England are yet to face a threat like Spain and there is no telling if they will be able to stop them offensively. With that in mind opting for a Spain attacker could be a wise move and its Dani Olmo (€7.6m) who has been the most consistent.
Since playing 30 minutes in Matchday 1 and 2 combined Olmo has been relentless. In fact, the Leipzig attacker has banked at least one return in his last four matches on the bounce. This feat has seen him sit joint first for total points in the game.
Olmo isn’t just consistent but explosive. He showed us this in Matchday 5 against Germany when he scored, assisted, claimed the player of the match award and picked up a huge 14 points.
Alternative Options
The Spain frontline has produced some wonderful moments, and they arguably achieved them against some of the toughest side in the competition. England as an opposition are no different from teams they have met previous, which is another reason they have an edge.
Another great way of benefitting from the Spain attack is to captain Lamine Yamal (€6.6m). The 16-year old Barcelona attacker has lit up EURO 2024 with his flair and big-game ability. Yamal produced a return in all three of his last matches – two of them being against European giants Germany and France.
You can’t write off England going into the final round. After several poor offensive performances against the likes of Slovenia, Slovakia and Denmark they seem to be finding their feet from an attacking perspective.
As well as scoring two against Switzerland England netted twice against Netherlands in the following round. Spain have maintained a very good defence too but we have to remember they conceded against both Germany and France.
The above could make Harry Kane (€11m) a viable captaincy option. Kane, like England, has been from convincing but also similar to his side Kane has got the job done. Three goals in six matches for Kane isn’t a bad run. In fact, Kane currently sits joint top for goals scored so far.
Unlike the options mentioned above, Kane also has the penalties. This is a massive contributing factor when backing a player. We saw this in the recent round when Kane earned and scored his penalty.
