Best buys for Double Gameweek 25

The prospect of a Double Gameweek is something that gets FPL managers excited. The opportunity to own players who have double the game time could be exactly what managers need to boost their overall rank. Which assets from Brighton and Manchester United make the best buys?

When investing in players for a Double Gameweek they should ideally be players we are happy to hold at least in the short time. Therefore working out who the best buys are from the doubling clubs is key for FPL managers.

Best buys from Manchester United?

The 2021/22 season has been a rollercoaster for United so far. From resigning Ronaldo to parting company with Ole, the form of the Red Devils has been equally up and down.

United have won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six Premier League fixtures. In that time they have also been knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Middlesborough.

Historically the best buys from United would have always been their premium assets, Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea. Ahead of Gameweek 25 they are still the three most own assets from the red side of Manchester.

  • Ronaldo 28.2%
  • Fernandes 20.3%
  • de Gea 14.4%

Fernandes is currently the highest scoring member of the United squad with 98 points. Goalkeeper de Gea is second with 90 and Ronaldo third with 86. After that the next available highest scoring member of the United team is Maguire with 46 points.

Many FPL managers will face the dilemma as to how they fit Fernandes or Ronaldo into their squads at a time where other premium assets are recording higher points returns.

Managers will likely need to sacrifice Kevin de Bruyne, Jarrod Bowen or even put off resigning Mo Salah in order to bring in Fernandes. For Ronaldo managers will likely still have to make midfield sacrifices to budget for the forward whilst it preventing them from signing in form players such as Harry Kane.

de Gea will be an easier investment for managers, especially with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale blanking in Gameweeks 25 and 27.

For managers wanting to buy into Untied for Gameweek 25 these are the three most popular options. However, managers should just be mindful of the players that they have to sacrifice and make those decisions carefully.

Best buys from Brighton?

Brighton offer FPL managers the opportunity to invest in differentials ahead of Double Gameweek 25.

Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and defender Shane Duffy are the only players in the Brighton squad owned by over 10% of the game.

Trossard is top for attempts across the Brighton squad. However, he is currently sidelined with Covid 19 and whilst Potter expects him back for Watford FPL managers should be cautious when investing.

Maupay is the second best forward option in the game valued under £7.5m. Only Watford’s Dennis is a better pick in that price point.

Unlike Manchester United options who require premium investment, FPL managers can invest easily in a differential at Brighton.

During the transfer window Brighton sold Dan Burn, this could open up an opportunity for FPL managers. Shane Duffy is priced at just £4.1m and could be the perfect investment.

Brighton have kept six clean sheets so far this season. They have also conceded just 23 goals, only four teams have conceded fewer. Alongside Duffy, Sanchez makes a great option in goal for FPL managers.

Whilst Brighton may not keep a clean sheet in the second half of their Double Gameweek against United, there is a good opportunity in the first match. Opponents Watford have kept just one clean sheet so far this season and have scored just 23 goals, only four teams have scored less.

Ahead of Gameweek 25 investing in the Brighton defence seems a wise strategy. The attacking assets could be a nice differential for managers wanting to be bold in their transfer strategy.
