Best Budget Gems for EURO Fantasy Matchday 5

Our coverage of the summer tournament continues as we take a look through some of the best budget gems for EURO Fantasy Matchday 5. To do this we head over to the Fantasy Football Scout members area and check out their underlying stats.

Knowing who the best budget gems for EURO Fantasy Matchday 5 are could be super helpful for fantasy managers. Budget players are crucial when it comes down to building a team and selecting as many premium players as you would like. So, let’s dive in.

Marc Cucurella

Spain face Germany this week which won’t be easy. The hosts have been excellent since starting their campaign but Spain are one of few teams with the quality and form to match them.

Defensively Spain have been fantastic. When comparing all teams in the competition they rank joint best for total goals conceded, joint best for total clean sheets kept and joint best for total big chances conceded.

With the above in mind and considering his price point, it could be worth selecting Marc Cucurella (€4.5m) for those who haven’t already. As well as being the cheapest and most reliable route into an elite defence Cucurella is also very capable of picking up additional points for ball recoveries.

Bart Verbruggen

Another side who have impressed defensively is Netherlands. As well as holding favourites France to a 0-0 draw the Dutch also kept a clean sheet in their round of 16 game against Romania. Türkiye lay ahead who although deserve their place in the quarter-finals remain a great team to target.

Netherlands have plenty of great defensive options to pick from. However the cheapest of the bunch is man between the sticks Bart Verbruggen (€4.6m). The Brighton goalkeeper is the cheapest playing keeper in the game with great clean sheet odds.

Michel Aebischer

For managers looking for an attacking player then look no further than Switzerland. Switzerland have played exceptionally for large parts of their campaign and with England up next it could be a great opportunity to continue their goal scoring run of form.

Switzerland play with a back-three which allows their wing-backs into some fantastic attacking positions. One of those wing-backs is in-game midfielder Michel Aaebischer (€5m). The Bologna star brought havoc to Hungary in Matchday 1- scoring, assisting and bagging the player of the match award.

There are lots of other great budget gems to pick from. Those looking back against England could bring in Ricardo Rodriguez (€4.5m) who is averaging around five ball recoveries per game. Teammate and fellow centre-back Fabian Schar (€4.5m) has shown his attacking threat for English side Newcastle in the past so could be a great alternative.

EURO Fantasy managers may also remember centre-back Merih Demiral (€4.5m) who recently bagged a whopping 20 points for his two goals and player of the match award against Austria.
