Our coverage of the summer tournament continues as we take a look through some of the best budget gems for EURO Fantasy Matchday 4. To do this we head over to the Fantasy Football Scout members area and check out their underlying stats.
Knowing who the best budget gems for EURO Fantasy Matchday 4 are could be super helpful for fantasy managers. Budget players are crucial when it comes down to building a team and selecting as many premium players as you would like. So, let’s dive in.
Marc Cucurella
Spain were excellent in the Group Stage, winning all three of their matches against Italy, Croatia and Albania. They go into a meeting with Georgia whose only win came against a heavily rotated Portugal in Matchday 3. As well as winning all three of their Group matches, Spain were also solid defensively, keeping a clean sheet in each of the same games.
For that reason it could be worth investing in them defensively and the cheapest and most reliable route into the backline is Marc Cucurella (€4.5m). In the two matches he did play Cucurella amassed a huge 16 points. Four of those points were helped by a huge 16 ball recoveries.
Maximilian Mittelstädt
Buying into the hosts could also be very beneficial. Germany won two of their three Group Stage matches and appeared to be one of the few most convincing teams. Denmark lay ahead next up and although full of talented players they have failed to impress from an attacking perspective.
The above of course makes Germany defensively investable this week and there is one player who stands out above the rest. Maximilian Mittelstädt comes in at just €4m and as well as benefitting from clean sheets he also has attacking threat. Amongst all defenders in the competition so far Mittelstädt ranks the best for total crosses and joint third for chances created. His data has already translated into an attacking return, an assist he registered in Matchday 2.
Nicolae Stanciu
Romania were a surprise package in the Group Stage. After dismantling Ukraine 3-0 in Matchday 1 they then went onto secure a first place position in the Group. Romania come up against Netherlands in the round ahead and the Dutch have fallen hugely short defensively.
Although keeping a clean sheet against France, Netherlands conceded a huge three goals to Austria and one against Poland. To target the ropey Dutch backline we could look to Nicolae Stanciu (€5.5m). Staciu takes set pieces for his side so can be a constant threat. He also scored in Matchday 1, helping him to a player of the match award and a 13-point haul. The game is lacking in budget attackers at this point so the Romanian could well be one of the best budget gems for EURO Fantasy Matchday 4.
Patrick Pentz
Not many expected Austria to be labelled as ‘dark horses’ at this point in the competition. Manager Ralf Rangnick has his side playing some exciting football and his recent win against Netherlands was the biggest example of that.
Austria face Türkiye next and they have failed to convince in many aspects. The loss of key player and chance creator Hakan Calhanoglu is a big one and one that budget goalkeeper Patrick Pentz (€4m) could benefit from. Owning a goalkeeper from the right side of the draw is crucial too and Pentz offers exactly that.
Marc Guehi
As frustrating as England have been, they’ve done the job they needed to do. Attacking performances have far from impressed but they do appear solid defensively. Other than a goal from outside of the box England have kept two clean sheets, rank the best for big chances conceded and sit top for shots in the box conceded.
England have sustained elite level defensive data and with Slovenia ahead, they look likely for a clean sheet. With that in mind, the cheapest and most reliable route into their backline for minutes is centre-back Marc Guehi (€4.5m). As well as clean sheet potential Guehi is a ball recovery specialist – racking up 26 which has resulted in an additional eight points across three matches.
