AFCON – Who is away on International duty?
The end of the first weekend of games in Gameweek 21 saw many of the African players, who had been called up to play for their countries in the African Cup of Nations, jet off to join up with their international teammates.
Many FPL managers have been planning for AFCON for a while, however now is the time to part company with those players who won’t be playing in the Premier League whilst their countries remain in the tournament.
These are the players who will be missing from their Premier League teams during the course of the tournament:
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal)
Mohamed Elneny (Arsenal)
Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal)
Thomas Partey (Arsenal)
Bertrand Traore (Aston Villa)
Trezeguet (Aston Villa)
Yves Bissouma (Brighton)
Frank Onyeka (Brentford)
Maxwell Cornett (Burnley)
Edouard Mendy (Chelsea)
Cheikhou Kouyaté (Crystal Palace)
Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace)
Wilf Zaha (Crystal Palace)
Alex Iwobi (Everton)
Daniel Amartey (Leicester)
Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester)
Ndidi (Leicester)
Sadio Mane (Liverpool)
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Naby Keita (Liverpool)
Riyad Mahrez (Man City)
Eric Bailly (Man United)
Moussa Djenepo (Southampton)
Adam Masina (Watford)
Imran Louza (Watford)
William Troost-Ekong (Watford)
Said Benrahma (West Ham)
Romain Sais (Wolves)
Whilst these players won’t be on watchlists of Fantasy Premier League managers over the next couple of Gameweeks, there is an AFCON Fantasy Football competition if managers still want the thrill of owning the likes of Salah, Benrahma and Mahrez.
