FPL Gameweek 8 Most Popular Picks

Last modified date

Our FPL Gameweek 8 Most Popular Picks looks at the players attracting the highest ownership ahead of the weekend. With form, fixtures, and captaincy all in focus, this is the stage of the season where template selections start to take shape.

In this article, we’ll break down the most-owned players, analyse why they’re proving so popular, and highlight a few differentials who could help you stand out from the crowd.

  • 10th – Gabriel (£6.3m) – 29.7% ownership – In at 10th is Arsenal centre-back Gabriel. The Gooners have been excellent so far this season and their Brazilian is one of several assets who could benefit this week against Fulham.
  • 9th – Marc Guehi (£4.9m) – 30.9% ownership – Crystal Palace have been slightly less successful than Arsenal, with three clean sheets. However, the Eagles centre-back has mustered up three attacking returns already this season.
  • 8th – Tijani Reijnders (£5.8m) – 32.9% ownership – Whilst three attacking returns may not be as impressive as many would have hoped for from Reijnders, he continues to start every league game for Manchester City.
  • 7th – Mohammed Kudus (£6.7m) – 33.2% ownership – With four assists and a goal in his first seven matches, Kudus has become one of the most top performing midfielders in the game. This week he faces a home fixture against the ropey Aston Villa.
  • 6th – Mickey van de Ven (£4.8m) – 33.9% ownership – Another Tottenham asset who features is centre-back van de Ven. The Dutchman is the highest owned defender in FPL, after keeping three clean sheets and scoring in his first seven games.

5th – Martin Dubravka – 34% Ownership

FPL Gameweek 8 Most Popular Picks

Martin Dubravka (£4m) remains the highest owned goalkeeper in the game. Whilst Burnley have kept just one clean sheet so far this season, Dubravka is the only playing £4m goalkeeper in FPL which makes up most if not all of his appeal.

4th – Mohamed Salah – 38.6% Ownership

It has been a disappointing start to the season for Liverpool midfielders Mohamed Salah (£14.4m). The Egyptian hasn’t exactly been poor, but compared to his usual standards, producing just two goals and two assists in his first seven matches, could be seen as well below par.

3rd – Antoine Semenyo – 59.6% Ownership

FPL Gameweek 8 Most Popular Picks

Among the top three most popular players heading into Gameweek 8 is Antoine Semenyo (£7.9m). The Bournemouth midfielder has produced an impressive six goals and three assists in his first seven matches. A meeting with Crystal Palace could be tough, but considering his current form, you can’t rule him out.

2nd – Erling Haaland – 61.2% Ownership

Sitting in second after a scintillating start to the new campaign is Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (£14.5m). The Norwegian has racked up a massive nine goals and one assist already, and a home game against Everton could see him add to that.

1st – Joao Pedro – 61.4% Ownership

FPL Gameweek 8 Most Popular Picks

With more ownership than any other player in the game, but only just, Joao Pedro (£7.7m). Chelsea’ Brazilian striker has blanked in his previous three games, so question marks have been raised over his appeal. But, with and out-of-form Nottingham Forest next up, we could see a turnaround in his form.
