We’ve reached matchday eight, the final round before the international break. That means coaches will line up with their strongest teams. It’s a tough week, featuring two huge fixtures: Sporting vs Braga and Porto vs Benfica.
Goalkeepers
I’m sticking with the strategy of always picking a home goalkeeper. The first is João Valido (€4.0M), who has been solid and consistent so far. Alongside him is Sequeira (€4.5M), who already has clean sheets this season and remains a reliable option.
Defence
From Gil Vicente, I’ve chosen Zé Carlos (€4.5M). The last time I picked him, he scored eight points. Despite their setback against Benfica, the team has been in strong form, and this round looks promising again.
Konan (€4.0M) is another pick. The left-back has been performing at a very high level and continues to look like great value.
Next is Larrazabal (€5.0M). He has been dependable in the right wing-back role, delivering good attacking numbers on top of his defensive work.
Vagiannidis (€6.0M) is still adapting to his new team, but his improvement is clear. Highly offensive, he could easily make a direct impact on the scoreline this week.
Finally, I’ve gone with Abascal (€5.0M) from Vitória. He’s in good form, with one assist already, and has been close to scoring more than once.
Midfield
The standout choice is Trincão (€11.5M). His excellent form makes him a key player, and he looks certain to contribute again this round.
Lukébakio (€9.5M) is another pick. He fits perfectly into Mourinho’s new system and should play an important role.
André Luiz (€6.0M) has been outstanding this season. With two goals and three assists, he offers consistent attacking returns at a good price.
Next is Miguel Nogueira (€5.5M). The young number 10 has been creating plenty of chances and looks closer to scoring with every game. His influence is growing rapidly.
The final midfielder is Borja Sainz (€9.0M). He has excellent stats and strong recent form. This will be his first big derby, but I expect him to step up and perform.
Attack
Up front, I’m keeping faith with Suárez (€10.5M). He’s still the first-choice penalty taker and remains central to his team’s attack.
Clayton (€8.1M) is another forward who keeps his spot. He faces no competition for his role and has been getting into scoring positions regularly.
The final pick is Pablo (€5.6M) from Gil Vicente. He already has four goals to his name and takes penalties, which makes him a strong value pick in attack.
