Goalkeepers
Finding two goalkeepers who play on different days right up until Matchday 8 is difficult. However, for those that don’t mind putting budget between the sticks then Chelsea’ Robert Sanchez (€5m) and PSG’ Lucas Chevalier (€4.5m) fit the bill.
For those who want to spend as little as possible in their goalkeepers, then Ajax’ Vitezxlav Jaros (€4m) and PSV’ Matej Kovar (€4.5m) could be a viable rotation pairing.
Defenders
The Inter defence have already banked their first clean sheet of the new campaign. The Italian side will be hoping to maintain the best defence in Europe again after their jaw-dropping seven clean sheets in eight League phase matches last season. Their wing-back system makes the dangerous Denzel Dumfries (€6m) a lock. Meanwhile former Manchester City centre-back Manuel Akanji (€5m) appears cemented in the Inter defence. Doubling up with both could be hugely beneficial.
Being able to own a Real Madrid defender for just €4.5m is usually unheard of, especially when factoring in gametime reliability. Because of this centre-back Dean Huijsen could be a great long-term option.
Arsenal have already managed six clean sheets in their first eight matches in all competitions – making them one of the best defences in Europe so far. The cheapest and most attacking route into the defence is Italian full-back Riccardo Calafiori (€4.5m).
Juventus are full of good value assets. The Italian giants have great fixtures long-term, and Pierre Kalulu (€4.5m) is one of two defenders who have started every one of their games this season.
Midfielders
Liverpool have won every one of their matches this season, and appear to be one of the tournament favourites. With this in mind, investing in their attack could be crucial. The safest route in terms of minutes is penalty taker Mohamed Salah (€10.5m) who bagged a goal and an assist in the previous match.
Another side who can’t stop scoring, and scoring in bulk, is the Bavarians. Buying into the explosive Bayern attack is arguably essential, and one of their most effective offensive assets is Michael Olise (€8m).
As mentioned, Juventus have a decent schedule, so buying into their assets could be beneficial. Their 4-4 thriller against Dortmund in Matchday 1 was a good indication on their attack, and their best attacker is Kenan Yildiz (€6.5m).
Newcastle also have great fixtures. The English side put in a good shift against Barcelona during the opening round. Scoring their only goal during that 2-1 loss was Anthony Gordon (€7m) who appears to be an excellent option at that price point.
Finding a cheap €5m option to help enable this team is tough but Can Uzun could be the best of the bunch. Uzun may have mixed fixtures but he has netted in each and every one of his previous three games for Frankfurt. Some may also consider Monaco’ Maghnes Akliouche (€5m).
Forwards
Going without Harry Kane (€10.5m) just isn’t an option at this point. With the rate Bayern are notching up goals and considering the fact Kane has already racked up a whopping 16 goals and three assists this season for club and country already makes him essential.
Kylian Mbappe (€10.5m) is also an excellent option. The Real Madrid penalty taker has amassed 11 goals and two assists in just nine matches. He also faces a very poor Kairat defence up next, so going without him could be hugely damaging for rank and mini-league position.
Three fantastic fixtures ahead means Inter have a better schedule than any other side in the competition during the next rounds. Because of this buying into the frontline could be crucial. Marcus Thuram (€8m) is their most match ready and in-form striker.
