Notes

  • In goal, I’ve chosen Stolarczyk. He faces a West Brom side on Friday night who have underwhelmed offensively. He also faces a second game against relegation threatened Wrexham. Their attack has been quality as of late, which does worry me. But I think Leicester will have enough to keep them out especially at home. The goalkeeper decision this week was close between Stolarczyk, Tóth, and Rushworth.
  • In defence, the first name in my side is Jones of Charlton. He has two great fixtures from a defensive point of view. One of them is against Blackburn, who have managed five goals in six games. He also clashes with Derby, who have registered the lowest open play xG in the league at just 2.25. Charlton themselves have been strong at the back, with three clean sheets already and just 5.00 xG conceded, one of the best records in the league. On top of his defensive floor, he has very good attacking threat having already missed three big chances this season. Joining him is Cabango of Swansea, who also comes up against two low scoring sides. Swansea have two clean sheets already and a very low xG conceded of 5.80, averaging just below one per game. This week they face two mediocre attacking sides, Millwall, followed by Blackburn. He offers a good floor with bonus reliability, and with limited strong defensive options this week, I can’t look past him.
  • Midfield is where I’ve invested more in this week with three picks. Bannan is the standout and takes the armband. It feels strange captaining a midfielder with limited attacking output so far, but his floor has been superb thanks to interceptions, key passes, and shots on target. He also has two fixtures to potentially add to his attacking returns, and even without returns, his all-round numbers likely will give him a high score. He’s joined by Colwill of Cardiff. Despite last week’s blank, I think he remains one of the best midfield options available this week. Wigan away won’t be easy, but I expect goals, and Burton at home looks like one of the best fixtures of the week in isolation. He already has three goals and an assist this season, plus an assist in the cup midweek, so the form and ceiling is there. My third pick is Rudoni. The million dollar question is Torp or Rudoni. I am still undecided but I’ve gone with Rudoni. He has secured 90 minutes which is always important in a double game week. In my opinion, he also has more of an attacking threat, seen by his high heatmap position. Despite only two goals and one assist this season, Rudoni has strong attacking stats and with two favourable fixtures against Birmingham and Millwall he has a fantastic opportunity to bolster those numbers. He also plays for a Coventry side who are notoriously recognised as high scorers having already scored 15 goals this season.
  • Up front, I’ve gone for Kone. This one feels straightforward. His minutes aren’t completely secure, but I’m expecting at least 150 minutes across the two fixtures. This should be enough given he faces two poor defences. In addition, he’s in form and looks like the clear forward pick this week.
  • For club picks, I’m backing QPR and Leicester. QPR are the standout choice given their excellent form and favourable fixtures. Leicester I am less sure about, but I think they’ll have too much for Wrexham and should get a result against West Brom away as well but this will not be easy.

Notes

  • Cardiff’s goalkeeper Trott has been one of the most reliable shot-stoppers this season. With a double gameweek ahead, it’s a great chance for both him and the team to bounce back after an unexpected home loss to League One’s surprise package, Bradford. In addition, recent defensive outcomes have been poor, which led me to switch to a two-defender setup this week.
  • Vestergaard remains a nailed-on centre-back for Leicester. Under manager Cifuentes, there’s a stronger focus on defensive solidity, and with WBA struggling for goals, a clean sheet in the opener looks realistic. Cabongo is the standout in a solid Swansea backline, and they have favourable fixtures in this DGW.
  • In midfield, Barry Bannan (Sheffield Wednesday) is my top pick. He’s playing at a high level and offers multiple routes to points – assists, goals, and set pieces. Rudoni continues to be a dependable choice. While his fixtures aren’t ideal, he’s proven to be fixture-proof.
  • Up front, I’m leaning towards two penalty takers: Sargent and Kone. Both are reliable options with strong potential for attacking returns this week.
  • As for team picks, I believe Ipswich are due to kick off a winning streak, and QPR look capable of scoring a few with their upcoming favourable matchups.

Notes

  • My captain this week, for the first time this season is a midfielder, Victor Torp. So far he has averaged almost 10 points per game this season.
  • There is no vice captain trick needed due to the double gameweek.
  • I have gone for double QPR defence, as they have the best fixtures this week. Ross McCrorie is my other defender for upside.
  • Midfield and attack has four players who have all managed two or more double digit returns this season in just six games.
  • Teams Picks are QPR who complete the triple. They have won their last three games. QPR are joined by Middlesbrough who are unbeaten so far this season.

Notes

  • In goal I have chosen Rushworth. Coventry have two nice fixtures from a defensive point of view and I think they are fairly solid.
  • In defence my first pick is Jones, an FEFL great from last season and Charlton are a very good defensive team. They are currently conceding around 0.8xG/90. I think this, combined with the fixtures and Jones’ ability to get defensive bonus points makes him a good pick this week.
  • My second defender is Vestergaard. I like Leicester’s fixtures from a defensive point of view. I think the WBA game could be quite tight and Leicester have also been very solid at home defensively. Add in Vestergaard’s attacking threat and he is in my team.
  • My final defender is Cabango. Like Charlton, Swansea are a very good defensive outfit and with two nice fixtures I think he is a good pick this week.
  • Onto the midfield, I have picked Bannan. I think he just has a lot of routes to points and is the talisman of that Wednesday side. Bannan also has a good opportunity for interceptions in both games and it wouldn’t surprise me if he picked up points in other ways especially at home to QPR.
  • My other midfielder is Torp who again is a player with lots of routes to points. In two tight games I expect him to be able to get some good interception points. He has also shown his ability to get points via other routes. I like him as a pick this week.
  • Onto my forward and I have picked Kone. QPR are just a team I like in terms of their attack at the moment. Kone himself is in good form with three goals in 3.5 games. I also think the two fixtures are good for QPR offensively and they should get chances in both games.
  • In terms of teams I have firstly gone for QPR. Like I said above, I like QPR as an attacking team at the moment and the two fixtures are nice enough to target. I think they should be wanting to win both and are capable of it. My second team pick is Leicester. I don’t think the first fixture is the best. But, I expect it to be a tight game, so they could come away with something. I think the home fixture should be targeted with how solid they have looked at home this season so far.

Notes

  • Josh Keely is in goal as I feel Luton have a great chance of a clean sheet in both games.
  • I’m going with three at the back with, Lloyd Jones who’s averaging 6.7 points a game. Ben Cabango is also a great pick this week. Swansea haven’t conceded many and he’s been looking solid. Jan Vestergaard makes up the three. The Leicester man provides goal threat and his clearance numbers are decent.
  • Victor Torp has great interception numbers and often pops up with a goal and assist. He also sometimes takes set pieces. Alongside him is Cardiff’s main man Ruben Colwill who I think can get back to his best this week.
  • Richard Kone takes the striker position purely based on fixtures. He has a great chance of returning in both games.
  • QPR and Leicester I feel have the best double gameweek fixtures, so I will most certainly be on them.
  • Lloyd Jones currently takes the armband (C).

Notes

  • Formation: 3-2-1 Captain: Oli McBurnie – Team Picks: QPR & HUL
  • GK – Paul Nardi (QPR – 0.3% selected) – Prior to Nardi taking his place between the sticks, QPR were at 2.00 GCp90. In Nardi’s two games so far, he has one clean sheet and has conceded just one goal, bagging back to back six-pointers and an 85% save rate.
  • DEFs – Lloyd Jones (CHA – 1.4% selected), Ben Cabango (SWA – 1.5% selected) and Liam Morrison (QPR – 0.4% selected) – Jones is second highest for clearances in the Championship, and has 68 defensive contributions already (53Cl, 8Bl, 7T). In addition, Blackburn and Derby are only putting up GSp90 of 1.00 and 0.87 respectively from open play, and Charlton have npGC of 0.83. Double digits are on the horizon for Lloyd. Cabango boasts a similar record in the Swansea defence, with 70 defensive contributions (44Cl, 9Bl, 17T) and the same npGC. Millwall could be tough opposition, but targeting Blackburn again means that Cabango can go bang (try saying that after a few match day beers). Given the poor attacking quality of Sheff Weds, I’m backing the double QPR defence with Morrison and his 60 defensive contributions (47Cl, 6Bl, 7T). Oxford have scored at least two goals in their last three, so could be much tricker, but I’m backing at least one clean sheet.
  • MIDs – Anis Mehmeti (BRC – 6.9% selected) and Ollie Norwood (STP – 17.3% selected) – My ‘template’ pick for this week is Mehmeti. He is nailed as a 90 minute man, with seven goal contributions (4G, 3A) in six games. He’s up against tough defences in Preston and Ipswich. But, given his form he’s worth backing. I’ve also picked Norwood, despite him not having a DGW. Yet again he was involved in Stockport’s win over Rotherham, providing the assist for Wootton. His all-round numbers are ridiculous, and as the set piece taker, he has every chance of another return against a Reading team with 1.50 GCp90.
  • FWD – Oli McBurnie (HUL – 3.4% selected) – My final pick, and captain for DGW9, is McBurnie. He’s the Tigers’ talisman and nailed for 90 mins. He has also been on fire – with seven goal contributions (3G, 4A) in his last five games. Watford have 1.20 GCp90, and whilst Preston will be tough to break down, home advantage could prove pivotal.
  • Team Picks: QPR look good on paper against Sheff Weds. Oxford could be difficult to defend against. Similarly, I like Hull against Watford. Preston could be harder to break down. If I can get a win and a draw from both sets of games, I’ll take it.
