Notes

  • In goal, I’ve chosen Southwood. He covers the Bristol Rovers defence in a week where there aren’t many standout clean sheet opportunities. They face Barrow, who rank near the bottom in most attacking stats.
  • In defence, the first name is Johnson, who also takes the armband. He has a strong fixture against a Rotherham side struggling with injuries especially in their attack.
  • Mabete is my second defender, though I could switch to Will Wright if I feel like chasing attacking upside. They face a Harrogate side whose attack has not impressed and while Mabete offers reliable bonus numbers, Wright has the greater chance of attacking returns.
  • The third defensive slot is the hardest call this week. No option stands out, so I’m not set here and could even shift into a three midfield setup. For now, I’ve gone with Smith. He has good numbers and attacking threat with a favourable home fixture against Newport.
  • In midfield, Keillor-Dunn is the first pick. Playing as the number nine at home against a shaky Reading defence, he’s in great form and feels like a lock. The second spot is less certain. At the moment, I’ve paired him with Rudoni, Coventry’s main playmaker, who faces Norwich at home. Norwich’s defensive data isn’t good, and Coventry matches often turn into high scoring games especially at home. However, I also like the look of a Bristol City midfielder, which makes the formation switch even more appealing this week.
  • Up front, Patrick leads the line. There’s no overthinking this one, he’s the man in form with strong stats. He faces a Newport side who have conceded the highest xGC in the 72 and continue to leak chances.
  • For my club picks, I’m currently on Swindon and West Brom. Both sides have solid win odds, though there are plenty of viable options this week, so this could still change before the deadline.

Notes

  • After the international break, key players return to their clubs. Bristol Rovers’ keeper Luke Southwood, back from Northern Ireland duty, is expected to reclaim his spot in goal for a favourable matchup vs Barrow, with his team chasing a fourth consecutive win.
  • His international teammate Ryan Johnson re-joins AFC Wimbledon for a tough defensive battle at home against Rotherham, which suits his style after a strong season start.
  • Tranmere’s Nathan Smith faces Newport, arguably the weakest team right now, after recording 17 clearances vs Gillingham and offering a solid set-piece threat.
  • Mickey Demetriou completes the defensive trio, though not in top form, he’s nailed to start and faces newly promoted Barnet in a favourable fixture.
  • In midfield, Coventry’s Torp is on a hot streak with three consecutive double-digit hauls and remains fundamental to everything going forward.
  • Barnsley’s Davis Keillor is their creative talisman and will be key as they push for three points at home vs Reading.
  • Up front, Patrick is the standout striker this week as he faces a struggling Newport side at home, currently the most favourable opponent.
  • Team picks of the week: red-hot Swindon at home vs out-of-form Harrogate, and Tranmere vs Newport.

Notes

  • So for the goalkeeper spot I have chosen Southwood from Bristol Rovers. I don’t think much of Barrow in terms of attack and they have an xG/90 of around 0.9 after their seven games. Bristol Rovers do have three clean sheets in a row prior to Newport. So, they have been a solid defence recently.
  • In defence my first pick is Johnson for Wimbledon. They are facing a poor Rotherham side at home and we all know how good Wimbledon were defensively last season especially at home. Rotherham have only put up 0.6 xG/90 so far, so they havn’t really been a great attacking side.
  • My next defender is Phillips. Again WBA are another solid defensive side with two clean sheets so far this season. Phillips has a decent goal threat shown by his goal last match vs Stoke. He also has good defensive bonus data, so I think he is a great pick this week.
  • My last defender is Smith from Tranmere. Their clean sheet odds this week are up there with the best, so it feels like a nice fixture to target. Smith is also decent for defensive bonus points so it isn’t just about the clean sheet with him too.
  • Onto the midfield and I have picked Keillor-Dunn. It’s a home fixture and Barnsley are just in a really good place at the moment. I just fancy them to win and score a few goals and if they do then surely DKD will be involved.
  • My second midfielder is Rudoni. This is more down to the fixture than recent Fantasy EFL form. I think Coventry are a fun team and they are creating nearly 2xG a game. This combined with a poor Norwich defence means I want a piece of the Coventry attack and Rudoni fits the bill. He has such a high ceiling with goals, assists, SOTs and key passes.
  • Finally onto my forward and I have picked Patrick. He is great form at the moment and has 1.8 SOT/90 so far this season. He also is facing an opposition who are conceding 1.8xG per 90mins. They tend to give up a lot of big chances so I fancy Tranmere to score a few and Patrick is the main man at the moment.
  • In terms of teams I have gone for West Bromwich Albion first up. I like the home fixture against a Derby side who aren’t the most attacking side. I fancy WBA to get the win this week especially given the form they are in so far this season.
  • My second team is Swindon Town this week. Swindon have one of the best odds to win this weekend. They are in good form and have won their last three games. They also have plenty of goals in their team, so I fancy them to get the job done this week.

Notes

  • I decided on the 2-3-1 this week because of the lack of good defensive picks, but the high amount of good midfield picks.
  • Ross McCrorie is my captain and also has a high upside, as he has four goal contributions from defence this season. Cleworth also has high upside after last season, picking up seven goals and two assists in the league.
  • All four attackers this week have high upside, with 11 double-digit hauls between them so far this season.
  • My two club picks play away from home as usual for upside with the away bonus points.

@DGriffiths99

Notes

  • Luke Southwood is in between the sticks this week as I think Barrow are a poor side going forward so clean sheet potential is right up there.
  • Three at the back again this week, with all of my defenders playing at home.
  • Nathan Smith plays a struggling Newport side and is good for clearances.
  • I like Ben Cabango’s fixture this week against Hull, so I’ve gone with him, and lastly Nat Phillips who I really like coming off the back of a goal last Gameweek and plays a poor derby side.
  • Davis Keillor-Dunn is back in the side. His form has been excellent this season and I think that’ll continue this week.
  • I’m going with Lewis O’Brien. But, this spot is still a bit uncertain. He has however started very well this year with goals and interceptions.
  • Omari Patrick has been in fine form recently, so will back him to return again this week in a great fixture for him.
  • Tranmere and Swindon both have decent home fixtures.
  • My captaincy armband is on Nat Phillips (c).

Notes

  • Formation: 2-2-2
  • Captain: Davis Keillor-Dunn
  • Team Picks: Leicester (A) & Swansea (H)
  • GK – Laurence Vigouroux (SWA – 0.8% selected) – Swansea face Hull in GW7, having conceded just to goals in their last four matches from 1.8 xGC. Hull have scored five goals from 5.4 xG, slightly underperforming. This looks like a strong clean sheet chance for the Swans.
  • DEFs – Ross McCrorie (BRC – 5.1% selected) & Jannik Vestergaard (LEI – 3.2% selected) – Bristol City are overperforming on both xGC and xG, but against a struggling Wednesday side who are underperforming across the board, McCrorie looks well placed for a clean sheet. He could also add to his league-leading three assists in the Championship so far.
  • Vestergaard has two clean sheets from four games, with Leicester conceding only three goals in that spell. That’s just one more than Oxford, their opponents, have managed to score this season.
  • MIDs – Davis Keillor-Dunn (BAR – 12.8% selected) & Isaac Price (WBA – 6.5% selected) – DKD has four goals in six appearances and should return to a central role where he’s most dangerous. Reading’s defence allows 1.33 goals conceded per 90, giving him plenty of opportunities to extend his tally. Price has four goal involvements (3G, 1A) in three games, averaging 10 points per match. He faces a Derby side with the league’s worst defensive record, and comes in off the back of good form for Northern Ireland.
  • FWDs – Omari Patrick (TRA – 10.6% selected) & Zan Vipotnik (SWA – 0.2% selected) – Patrick stays in after delivering 20 points as my captain in GW6. He has seven goal involvements (5G, 2A) in six games and plays Newport, who are struggling badly. Another haul could be incoming.
  • My under-the-radar pick is Vipotnik. He has three goal involvements (2G, 1A) in his last two games and faces a Hull defence with the second-worst xGC in the league.
  • Team Picks Summary: This week I’m targeting teams with high xGC and poor attacking output, where the clean sheet and attacking returns look most likely. For that reason Leicester and Swansea are in.
