Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 Top Picks

With the new season kicking into gear, managers are already looking for the standout options for the upcoming round. Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 Top Picks highlights the best players to consider based on form, fixtures, and early performances.

After what has seemed like a long international break, we’re back into the swing of Bundesliga Fantasy on Friday evening.

I go into this week inside the top 1k at 923rd, which I’ll happily take only being two weeks into the season but if you haven’t hit the Kane/Guirassy/Doan hauls that have got many people in the community into the top ranks then don’t worry, there will be plenty more swings and roundabouts over the season with the volatility of the scoring system.

Defenders

Louis Oppie – 5.88m

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 Top Picks

The St Pauli wingback has been racking up the duals and points in the first two weeks, which has seen his price jump by over 1m already. I expect more of the same this weekend and he certainly looks a great pick at the price point.

Loïc Badé – 8.23m

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 Top Picks

Although he hasn’t yet started a league game for Leverkusen, I’m expecting the Frenchman to come into the team this Friday night. All Leverkusen defenders have returned solid returns in spite of the poor first two results of the season and with a new manager already at the helm, Bade provides a cheaper route into the backline than Quansah and Tapsoba, but with little difference from a points potential perspective.

Yan Couto – 5.97m

Maybe the riskiest pick of the three this week – Couto has Ryerson back for competition but I would predict that Ryerson gets the UCL fixture midweek whilst Couto gets the Heidenheim game where there is more room for him to roam down the right wing. Couto may not have the best floor, but certainly has a high ceiling if he can get in the right positions.

Midfielders

Romano Schmid – 13.72m

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 Top Picks

For most of the summer it seemed like Schmid would be leaving Werder, but the window has closed and the clubs key man remains. Although Werder are looking like the team to target against, they also have managed to find the back of the net four times in the opening two games – therefore I see more goals in this fixture and Schmid has proven himself to be a solid player.

Ritsu Doan – 15.27m

Released early by the Japanese national team in order to be fully ready for the Friday fixture, Doan has settled into life at Frankfurt quickly and a match vs a Leverkusen team in chaos seems as good a chance as any to carry on his fine form. Don’t expect a repeat of the 427 points from last matchday, but expect over 180 with his dual floor.

Jakub Kamiński – 5.96m

Carrying on his club form at international level, Kaminski had a great international break for Poland and has a fixture vs the team he is technically on loan from to return to. It’s always weird in these scenarios playing against a parent club in the same league but I think it just adds to a potential story if/when he scores against them.

Forwards

Luis Diaz – 21.72m

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 Top Picks

Diaz price and returns have been flying in the opening two weeks as he has settled into the Bayern team seamlessly. He should have had an even higher score last matchday, missing a practically open goal and serious consideration should be given to going Diaz over Kane in fantasy teams with the price saved and the value he adds from dribbling, crossing and shot volume.

Tim Lemperle – 5.39m

Coming in at sub 6m, you don’t need to buy Lemperle to expect huge hauls – however a match vs Union is a perfect chance for him to score well for an improved Hoffenheim team. Hoffenheim started the season with tough matches vs Frankfurt and Leverkusen so this fixture gives us a chance to really show their upside.

Serge Gnabry – 12.51m

All Bundesliga managers hate that the likes of Diaz and Gnabry are classed as forwards, especially whilst Olise cooks as a midfielder, but if there was ever a week to gamble on using two forward positions on Bayern then this week would be the week. We’ve seen these matches finish 6, 7, 8-0 in the past and I fully expect a Bayern slaughter this weekend.
