Goalkeepers
I’m sticking with the Liverpool and London City Lionesses double-up: Rafaela Borggräfe and Elene Lete (both £4.0m). With Rachel Laws side-lined by a hand injury, Borggräfe looks set to take over as Liverpool’s starter. L
ondon City have been very secretive about their pre-season line-ups, but I’ve taken the risk on Lete, who joined from Real Sociedad this summer and could well claim the number one spot. One possible late switch is to Kinga Szemik (£5.0m) – if her ownership stays below 2% before the deadline, she’d qualify for visionary points in GW2.
Defenders
At the back, Katie McCabe (£8.0m) leads my defence. Last season, she posted the highest xGI of any defender and ranked second for both shot-creating and goal-creating actions from set pieces. A pre-season goal only strengthens her appeal.
Jayde Riviere (£7.0m) currently provides my Manchester United coverage, though I may pivot to Anna Sandberg (£4.5m), who impressed in United’s Champions League qualifiers.
Marisa Olislagers (£5.5m) completes my set of premiums after finishing second only to McCabe for xGI among defenders last season. She’s had a lively pre-season too, scoring once and supplying two assists from corners.
My budget options are Rion Ishikawa (£4.0m) and Jade Rose (£4.0m), both with favourable opening fixtures.
Midfielders
Mariona Caldentey (£10.0m) has been a near-permanent fixture since launch. Had she been classified as a midfielder last season, she’d have scored 18 extra points – enough to finish second overall behind Le Tissier.
Alongside her, I’ve been torn between Celin Bizet (£8.5m) and Ella Toone (£9.0m). At the moment, Bizet gets the nod after netting three times in pre-season and facing a leaky Leicester defence.
Ornella Vignola (£4.5m) is another summer arrival, signing from Granada. She’s impressed enough in pre-season to start ahead of Hannah Cain (£6.5m), who has a tricky opening fixture but remains my preferred mid-price option going forward.
Freya Godfrey (£4.0m) stays as my budget enabler – despite London City’s flurry of signings, I still see her as a low-risk, high-upside pick following her six-figure move from Arsenal.
Forwards
Alessia Russo (£12.5m) has worn the armband in every draft so far, and that won’t be changing. The reigning Golden Boot winner boasts a strong record against newly-promoted sides, giving her a great chance to hit the ground running.
Elisabeth Terland (£11.0m) has been in electric form since returning from the Euros, scoring six goals in United’s warm-ups, including a Champions League qualifier hat-trick against PSV. With Leicester and London City up first, she’s simply too good to overlook.
My final spot goes to Cornelia Kapocs (£6.0m). With Olivia Smith leaving for Arsenal, Kapocs looks primed to step up for Liverpool, beginning with a Merseyside derby on Sunday. At that price, she’s a low-risk way into their attack.
Final Thoughts
There’s still time for late changes before tonight’s deadline, especially with press conference news potentially shifting things. But for now, this is how my Fantasy WSL 2025/26 Gameweek 1 Team Reveal stands.
