Notes

  • In goal, I’ve gone for Eastwood. Cambridge have been impressive defensively this season, with two clean sheets already and the lowest xG conceded in the league. At home to Oldham, who aren’t a high scoring side, this feels like one of the strongest clean sheet opportunities.
  • Low is the first name in defence and takes the captaincy armband. He faces Peterborough, who sit near the bottom in most attacking stats in the league and have only managed two goals all season.
  • Forino is my second pick. With Toal away on international duty, he should come into the XI. Despite just one clean sheet so far, Bolton’s underlying defensive numbers suggest they’ve been unlucky. So, they have a good chance this week against Wimbledon.
  • The final defensive slot goes to Oluwo. With my other two defenders carrying some risk, I wanted a pick with a solid floor. Oluwo brings strong defensive numbers and a reliable goal threat. This makes him a strong option against a hardly impressive Tranmere side.
  • In midfield, Cozier-Duberry is an obvious pick. He has a high ceiling, has been the standout in his side, and now faces a very average Wimbledon side.
  • The second midfield slot is trickier. At the moment I’ve gone with Wiles, who plays against a poor Peterborough side and has multiple routes to points. The concern is his minutes, which makes this pick one I could change before deadline.
  • Up front, I’ve chosen Tolaj. Plymouth are strong at home and face a Stockport side with the second-highest xGC in the league, already conceding seven goals with just one clean sheet. Tolaj is their main man, nailed for 90 minutes, on penalties, and most attacks will go through him. With 52 goal involvements in the last two seasons and a recent brace in the EFL Trophy, it feels like only a matter of time before he delivers for Plymouth in the league.
  • For my club picks, I’ve opted for Huddersfield and Bolton. Both have the highest win odds this week, and doubling up with my midfield selections maximises the potential upside.

Notes

  • It’s getting better each week. Teams are settling in, and we’re finally at the stage where some hidden gems can be uncovered. I always aim to stay ahead of the curve, sometimes it works, sometimes not, but more often than not, it pays off.
  • This week, I’m backing Bolton’s keeper Sharman-Lowe. They haven’t been solid defensively so far, but Wimbledon are clearly overperforming, and there should be a class difference between the two sides.
  • In defence, Cheltenham look ready to bounce back after adding a few key signings. Bennett stands out, he’s a clearance machine, averaging around 15 per game, and Accrington is the perfect match-up for him.
  • Oldham’s away form continues to be poor, making Cambridge’s Watts a solid pick. Bristol Rovers are showing signs of life after a rough start, and Southam-Hales is one of the most attacking wing-backs in the league, he even scored last game, and Newport looks like another great opportunity.
  • Ex-Arsenal youngster Cozier-Duberry has played every minute this season, and his underlying stats are impressive.
  • Huddersfield, meanwhile, face a Posh side that looks like the weakest in the league, Wiles is one of the most reliable Terrier picks right now.
  • New Plymouth striker Tolaj scored a brace in the EFL Cup and looks set to be the focal point. Stockport isn’t the easiest opponent, but Argyle are a strong home team.
  • Lastly, Notts County have underperformed, but Jatta is finally fit, time for them to turn it around.

Notes

  • GW6 Team Reveal: So for the Goalkeeper spot I have chosen Eastwood from Cambridge. Cambridge have only conceded once in their first three home games and under Neil Harris they are a pretty solid defensive outfit. With a nice home fixture vs Oldham I feel Eastwood is a good pick this week.
  • So in defence my first pick is Low. I think Huddersfield have one of the better defensive fixtures this week and Low also has a bit of attacking threat to go with the chance of defensive bonus points. I want to have double Huddersfield defence covered so he is also my captain for this week.
  • Next up I have Watts who gives me a Cambridge defensive double up which feels nice given the home fixture. He also has an attacking threat and can pick up defensive bonus, so many routes to points.
  • My final defender is Bennett of Cheltenham. Now Cheltenham normally are a team to target but with it being a tricky week I have gone for a clearance monster in Scot Bennett. 60 clearances in four games so far and Accrington at home is a kind fixture if Cheltenham were ever going to keep a clean sheet.
  • Onto the Midfield and I have picked Cozier-Duberry who is a bit of an all action hero for a Bolton side with a nice home fixture against Wimbledon. Cozier-Duberry has multiple routes to points with key passes, interceptions, assists and shots in his locker. Will he finally get the elusive goal this week?
  • My next midfielder is Bailey who is having a great start to the season. I know he won’t keep performing as he is but again the fixture is a nice one and he has multiple routes to points.
  • Finally onto my forward and I have backed Tolaj. Now Plymouth haven’t been great but they come up a Stockport side who are 2nd worst for xGC. They haven’t impressed me defensively and I feel there are goals in this game for Plymouth and Tolaj is a goalscorer, so I think he is a decent pick this week.
  • In terms of teams I have gone for Huddersfield who have a nice home fixture vs Peterborough. They have won all three of their home games so far and to nil, so it feels like a solid team pick.
  • My second team pick are Cambridge who again have been better at home this season and have a nice home match up, so I am backing them to get the win this week.

Note

  • Jack Sanders is captain again even after a poor week because of his high upside. Alfie Kilgour is my vice, as he plays in the earlier kick-off, and if he hauls, the goalkeeper will be replaced.
  • I have two different types of midfielders, with Amario Cosier-Duberry being high floor whilst James Brophy is high ceiling but low floor, which should hopefully combine for a good total.
  • My club picks are both away from home: Swindon and Bristol Rovers, who have both won their last two games.

Notes

  • Jake Eastwood is between the sticks as Cambridge have a decent home fixture. They have also conceded just once at home this season.
  • I have opted for a three at the back, and I’m taking a punt on Scott Bennett whose clearance numbers have been great.
  • Joe Low is also in for me as he has a great match against struggling Peterborough at home and provides goal threat.
  • Adebola Oluwu makes up the back three for his all round bonus’s and clean sheet potential this week.
  • James Brophy has made it into my side this week as he creates a lot and is on some set pieces for Cambridge.
  • Amario Cozier-Duberry is very attacking and has played 90 mins in every game so far this season.
  • Alfie May is up top as of now, but this should change come deadline. If he starts he will more than likely be in my side.
  • Cambridge and Huddersfield are my team picks as they have great chances at home against weakened opposition.
  • My captaincy is currently on Adebola Oluwu.

Notes

  • Formation: 2-2-2 – Captain: Omari Patrick – Team Picks: Stockport (A) & Exeter (A).
  • GK – Joe Whitworth (EXE) – I’m on a run of four straight Clean Sheet keeper picks, and Whitworth (0.6% selected) looks well placed to make it five. Rotherham have scored just four goals all season (0.80 per 90) and continue to struggle without Sam Nombe.
  • DEFs – Macca Southam-Hales (BRR) & Nathan Smith (TRA) – Macca (0.2%) gets my vice-captaincy as the only early kick-off option. Over the last three games he’s played 70+ minutes, producing three clean sheets (+15), one Goal (+7), plus bonus defensive stats. Smith (0.3%) is under the radar but averaging seven points per game (35 in total). He even scored in Tranmere’s 2–0 win over Crawley. With Tranmere conceding just 0.80 goals per 90 (4th best in the league) and Salford managing only six goals all season, another clean sheet looks possible.
  • MIDs – Ollie O’Neill (LEY) & Ollie Norwood (STP) – O’Neill (2.5%) has been excellent, earning 37 points from one goal, three assists, and strong creative stats (10 key passes, three SOT). Against Port Vale (1.00 GC per 90) he looks a solid option. Norwood (14.5%) keeps his place. On set pieces, already with two assists, and facing Plymouth’s leaky defence (2.00 GC per 90, only Blackpool worse), he offers multiple routes to points.
  • FWDs – Omari Patrick (TRA) & Kyle Wootton (STP) – Patrick (3.9%) is joint-top scorer in League Two with six goals and two assists. He wears the armband against Salford. They concede 1.17 goals per 90. Wootton (4.8%) leads League One in Assists (four in six games) and has added two goals. Facing Plymouth’s porous backline, he looks primed for returns.
  • Team Picks – Stockport & Exeter – I’ve backed my own club Stockport (4.5%) for the triple-up. Exeter (1%) get the nod to beat Rotherham. Both play away from home. So, there’s the added bonus of away win points.
