Fantasy EFL Gameweek 4 Team Reveals

Notes

  • As a goalkeeper, I’m leaning toward Birmingham’s Allsop, he has a favourable fixture against Oxford United, one of the teams I see as relegation candidates. I’m less convinced about picking a Birmingham defender due to limited upside this round.
  • In defence, there are several strong options. Stockport have had a terrific start and should be confident going into the next game. Former Doncaster man Olowu stands out as a top pick, reliable for clearances and a threat on set pieces.
  • Swindon’s Will Wright, who takes penalties and set pieces, and Fleetwood’s centre-back James Bolton have been in my team from the beginning. Both have high ceilings and good fixtures this round.
  • In midfield, Stockport’s Ollie Norwood is a key pick, he’s on penalties and set pieces, and central to their attacking play. I also like Huddersfield’s Wiles, who has taken up a more offensive role under new manager Grant.
  • Up front, Fleetwood’s Davies is my current striker. With three goals and five shots on target in the opening three matches, he’s in great form, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him continue that run.
  • Overall, I’m backing Birmingham and Stockport this round. My team picks aim to balance safety with the potential for strong returns.

Notes

  • I’ve gone for Allsop as my keeper. Birmingham have a favourable home fixture against Oxford, who have been poor in front of goal. I prefer covering the clean sheet with the goalkeeper, as Birmingham’s defenders offer limited defensive contribution bonus points.
  • Will Wright is the first name in defence. Swindon’s backline isn’t usually trusted, but this week they face a poor Shrewsbury side. Wright is an attacking defender, on all set pieces including penalties, and offers plenty of routes to points.
  • Sanders partners him and takes the armband. MK Dons have looked strong defensively, and Sanders’ numbers are unbelievable.
  • The final defensive slot is the hardest to call. I’ve gone with Olowu, who has a good matchup against Walsall. His defensive numbers give him a reliable floor, with the bonus of some attacking threat.
  • In midfield, Norwood is the first pick. He provides a direct route into Stockport’s attack with a variety of route to points.
  • Cozier-Duberry joins him, as a high ceiling option. He is coming off some strong early season form and benefitting from a favourable fixture.
  • Up front, I’ve chosen Haji Wright. There are plenty of forward options this week, but Wright stands out. He plays for a high scoring Coventry side, has penalties, and comes up against a weak QPR defence.
  • I’m backing Birmingham and Coventry as my two club picks this week. Birmingham are the obvious pick, while the second club spot is more difficult to choose

Notes

  • So for the goalkeeper spot I have chosen Allsop from Birmingham who I think have a nice home defensive fixture this week vs Oxford. I also think the GK is the best way to cover them off.
  • In defence my first pick is Sanders. At the time of writing he has just made 24 clearances vs Crawley away and it is now 66 clearances in the four games. He feels like an easy pick at the moment.
  • Next up I have Tucker from Colchester. I really like the home fixture against Barrow and Tucker also has 51 clearances already this season, so should pick up a lot of defensive actions.
  • My final defender is Bolton of Fleetwood. In three of the four Fleetwood games, Bolton has managed 10+ clearances. I think the fixture is good enough to back the Fleetwood defender.
  • Onto the midfield, I have picked Norwood who is certain to be in my side. Stockport have a nice fixture in Burton at home. Norwood has many routes to points so is a great pick this week.
  • My next midfielder is Cozier-Duberry who has also shown that he can get points in multiple routes so far. He loves a shot but can always contribute with key passes and interceptions too.
  • Now finally onto my forward and I have backed Stansfield who has scored two in two in the league so far. He is definitely the main man for this Birmingham side and there is now a nice home fixture in Oxford at home. I think it is a good chance for Jay to add to his goal tally.
  • In terms of teams I have gone for: Birmingham with a nice home fixture against Oxford. I feel like with the way Birmingham have played so far this season, it could be a nice game to target for a team pick. The second team I have picked is Stockport who have a nice home fixture against Burton. They will want to bounce back after losing to Bradford and it still is a good game to target.

Notes

  • GK – Ryan Allsop (BIR) – Birmingham have one of the best home fixtures on paper. I don’t see defenders like Klarer getting many bonuses this week, so I’ve gone safe with Allsop for the clean sheet.
  • DEFs – Jack Sanders (MKD) & Jack Tucker (COL) – Sanders is the first defender name on every engaged manager’s lips at the moment, after an incredible haul in DGW3. He goes straight into my team. As MK Dons play early, he also takes the vice captaincy. Alongside Sanders is another Jack – namely Jack Tucker. Despite Colchester only keeping one clean sheet in four games so far, Tucker has amassed an impressive 51 clearances, averaging 12.75 clearances per game – worth (+3) alone. At home to Barrow, Tucker could haul if Colchester hold on for their second clean sheet of the season.
  • MIDs – Ben Wiles (HUD) & Isaac Price (WBA) – Wiles is turning out to be a talisman in the making for Huddersfield this season. With three goal contributions in his four games, including a goal off the bench last time out against Doncaster, he looks set to continue his good form. He comes up against a Stevenage team who are in great form themselves after winning all four of their matches. Price seems to have come out of nowhere to be the dominant man for the Baggies. With five shots on Target (+5), two Key Passes (+1) AND an Interception (+1) in his first two games, he is impossible to ignore. Especially when he has scored three goals (+18) too. He will get the chances at home to Portsmouth.
  • FWDs – Jay Stansfield (BIR) & Omari Patrick (TRA) – Stansfield has started the season well for Blues. He seems to be the safe pick in the Birmingham attack at the moment despite the multiple new signings around him. Against an Oxford team at home that have lost to both Portsmouth and Hull, Stanno should do very well. I’ve got a good feeling about Tranmere’s target man this week, who is still currently 0.7% owned at the time of writing. Facing a woeful Crawley side who have already conceded seven goals and only picked up a point, when he has had four Shots on Target (+4), four Key Passes (+2), two Goals (+10) and an assist (+3) alone makes him very dangerous.
  • Team Picks: Birmingham is an absolute no brainer. Oxford have started poorly and they are up against one of the most stacked attacks in the Championship in Blues. I really like Orient as a pick this week against Mansfield, too. Koroma and Connolly pose a big threat to the Stags’ back line.

Notes

  • Corey Addai is between the sticks this week as I feel a clean sheet is on the cards for Stockport playing at home.
  • I have a three at the back, with James Bolton who plays an Oldham side which has been struggling, Christoph Klarer of Birmingham and Jack Tucker make up the defence all with strong home games And decent chances of clean sheets/bonuses.
  • Oliver Norwood is in midfield for his multiple routes to points, and is on pens which is a bonus.
  • I’m going with Amario Cozier-Duberry who has looked very sharp so far this season, and not many will own him.
  • Jay Stansfield leads the line with two in two and has a great fixture to grab a few more.
  • My captaincy armband is currently on James Bolton (C).
  • Club picks this week will be Stockport who I think will be too strong for Burton at home and Birmingham who I think will get the job done against struggling Oxford.

Notes

  • Sanders is captained after 47 points over the first four games and faces a Newport team who failed to score in their last game.
  • Price and Green make my midfield. Both averaged 30 points over two and four games, respectively.
  • My team picks are Grimsby Town and Leyton Orient. Both play away, so I’m going to try to pick up some bonus points.
