Most Popular FPL Picks for Gameweek 2

If you need to know who the highest owned players currently are, then you are in the right place. Here, we take a look at the Most Popular FPL Picks for Gameweek 2.

Knowing which players have the largest ownership can be hugely significant when making Fantasy decisions, so let’s get stuck in.

6th-10th

In three-tenths of squads, Jeremie Frimpong (£6.0m) immediately became a member of the 59th Minute Club. If he stayed on the pitch for one more minute, he’d have snatched clean sheet points in Liverpool’s eventual 4-2 win.

Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven (£4.5m) was more successful with this and midfield teammate Mohammed Kudus‘ (£6.5m) two assists ensured a double-digit haul on his Spurs debut.

On even more points was Erling Haaland (£14.0m), joint-third with 13 of them. He wins round one against Mo Salah (£14.5m). Yet Ollie Watkins (£9.0m) surprised many by blanking at home to Newcastle.

5th – Florian Wirtz (31.5%)

It’s often risky to begin with a new Premier League name and Florian Wirtz (£8.5m) was unable to match the pre-match FPL excitement. Instead, his one shots and three chances created were outshone by Hugo Ekitike (£8.6m).

Due to this, the 22-year-old currently has the unfortunate label of being this week’s most-sold player. Next up, tricky meetings with Newcastle and Arsenal.

4th – Martin Dubravka (34.7%)

Not only did Burnley’s stopper concede three times, but he also became the first victim of a new Premier League rule. After failing to distribute the ball within eight seconds, the referee was free to award a corner to opponents Tottenham.

Then again, Martin Dubravka‘s ownership is purely about having a £4.0m starter. One that’s about to be at home to Sunderland.

3rd – Mohamed Salah (54.3%)

Back over to Liverpool, we almost saw an unprecedented Gameweek 1 blank for Salah. His previous eight opening days brought in a whopping six double-digit tallies and a total of 99 points, but last season’s top scorer wasn’t able to net here until the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time.

2nd – Joao Pedro (54.6%)

One of the more baffling bandwagons is that of new Chelsea arrival Joao Pedro (£7.5m). While initial outings brought some Club World Cup and pre-season goals, the general belief has always been that minutes will be shared with Liam Delap (£6.5m).

Sure enough, Sunday’s 0-0 versus Crystal Palace mustered no shots on target from the Brazilian, making way for Delap after 72 minutes.

1st – Cole Palmer (61.9%)

Slightly more involved was midfielder Cole Palmer (£10.5m). He racked up a match-leading seven penalty area touches and shot four times, but this blank extends the awful late form of 2024/25 – one goal and three assists came in those final 16 outings.
